Fifteen released their first record in 1991 on Lookout records. It was singer/guitarist Jeff Ott's vision to create music that didn't just rock, but had something important to say as well. After four records on Lookout, two on Grass Records, three on Sub City Records, and three more on indefinite self-published labels, Fifteen were viewed as the leaders in the political-punk music scene. They tackle such burning issues as homelessness, drug abuse, needle exchange, environmental destruction and the government's use of counterintelligence measures to violate activist's civil rights. Fifteen first broke up in 1996 after the self-released "extra medium kickball star."
They reformed in 1998 and released Hush and Survivor then disbanded 2000 with Jeff Ott stating that the anti-commercial DIY ethics of punk rock made it too expensive for him to have a band while raising a family.
The band had a total of fifteen members during its existence: Jeff Ott, Jack Curran, Mikey Mischief, Mark Moreno, Jean Repetto, Lucky Dog, Chris Flanagan, John Ogle, Jessie Wickman, Joe Cable, John Quintos, Scott Pierce, Jim Prior, Lisa D. and Vanessa Bain.

Fifteen Lyrics

I've seen it in a million eyes, and I'm still waiting
'cause the answer ain't your lust for things to be all right, so I'm still waiting
For people's loves to rule their lives, we all seem to be waiting
We are nothing, We are Nothing, We are One
We are nothing, We are Nothing, We are One
We're looking for something, but nothing's getting done
A million sectarian divisions, are only implications of
Until I look in another man, see myself, touch his hand feel the same life
Flowing, the same life
Growing, the same life
Running, the same life as mine
The lyrics of Implications by Fifteen explore the futility of waiting for things to fall into place and the importance of recognizing the unity of humanity. The lyrics suggest that many people lust after a perfect life and ideal circumstances, but waiting around for these things to happen is not the answer. The song describes how people seem to be waiting for their lives to be ruled by their desires and for their division to end, but this waiting is ultimately fruitless. The chorus emphasizes the idea that despite all our differences, we are all one and the same.
The song suggests that sectarian divisions and problems arise when people lose their sense of connection and forget that they are all part of the same human race. It highlights how individuals create their own meaning and happiness and that looking beyond oneself and reaching out to others can lead to a more fulfilling life. The song offers a message of hope that by recognizing our shared life, we can overcome the barriers that divide us and create a world that is more meaningful and united.
