Furniture
Final Fantasy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Try, try, try to arrange me
But there's no romance in my blood
Try, try, you'll never persuade me
My only tears fall with the rain

My father had a dozen wives
And a child by every one
I am from about, umm, number five
So don't expect me to stay with anyone

Try, try, try to arrange me
But there's no romance in my blood
Try, try, you'll never persuade me
My only tears fall with the rain

My mother never takes a break
From her pining after furniture
Every moment on her feet is torture

And I share her love of wine and cake
And taking advantage of amateurs

Overall Meaning

The song "Furniture" by Final Fantasy is an emotional one that speaks about the singer's reluctance to be controlled and arranged as per someone else's wishes. The lyrics emphasize that there's no romance in their blood, stating that no one can persuade them to be arranged. The lyrics are reflective of someone who has a history of living life on their terms, someone who has been shaped by their past experiences that have made them difficult to control.

The verse, "My father had a dozen wives" gives an insight into the singer's background and upbringing, which significantly influences their attitude and outlook on life. The next line "And a child by every one" adds depth to the statement, highlighting the emotional and psychological impact of having a large family with multiple stepmothers and half-siblings. The singer is from one of the wives down the line, which suggests a fractured family dynamic and a lack of a strong bond between them. The lines "So don't expect me to stay with anyone" and "My only tears fall with the rain" further emphasizes the singer's intensity of emotion and the difficulty in trusting others due to their past experiences.

Overall, the message of "Furniture" is about owning one’s identity and refusing to be easily arranged or coerced. The singer's history and life experiences are a significant contributing factor that has made them fiercely independent and self-reliant. The use of furniture and pining after it by the mother in the song can also be seen as a metaphor to describe the singer's reluctance to be objectified and objectification in general.

Hey guys! I check all my videos after every major patch to make sure they still work. If you’re having trouble, here are the most common issues people run into and how to fix them!

1. Can’t lower the wooden loft far enough: Make sure you’re using a stage panel or white rectangular partition. Anything with trim/paneling will be a problem.

2. The item won’t stay put: Make sure you’re rotate locking! If you do that and it still doesn’t work, you may need to lift the item higher—all furnishings will snap back to the floor if they’re too close to it.

3. The item won’t lift with a wooden loft: Some furnishings arbitrarily won’t respond to a wooden loft. In that case, use the technique in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOcUiS31MmU

4. Can’t access the subcommand menu: Make sure you have the keybinds set up! My videos all use default settings, but if you have changed them or need to, they’re in System > Keybind > System.

thank you

What are you supposed to do if the object youre floating isnt rotatable once you get it up?

@girlygeekmedia8771

@@kogv4693 Sorry for missing this! Everything that you can float with this glitch should be rotatable, though things are sometimes a pain in the butt to highlight and it just takes patience. I've found that sometimes things glitched through other things need your cursor to be in really weird places for them to highlight.

I do know this can be more of a problem on PS4/5, so if that's the case, use the virtual mouse mode (L1+R3, I believe) to select and rotate.

@@girlygeekmedia8771 Is there any way to lift furniture low enough that it'll be at the height of a stage on the ground? Without it the furniture automatically sticking itself back to the groundlevel?

@sommes5696

The partition bit was what helped solve the issue, thank you! I'm new to this so it was a big help!

@Ricecakes520

It's unbelievable to me that SE still hasn't added a feature to manipulate furniture on 3 axes and players have to glitch the game to get the results that they want. Thank you for this tutorial! Hopefully I can make my house look cute like yours!

@pasteldreams5413

I'm really hoping that there's a housing update before the Ishgardian restoration completes that fixes this as well as the terrible housing system in general.

@Zakjuh

This and also the ability to selectively move on certain axes. Sometimes, I just wanna move it on the x axis and not the y.

@spoobsforbs6643

So helpful with super clear instructions! For people who aren't able to make it work the key for me was to make sure you remove the loft into your inventory everytime. I couldn't make it work otherwise! Follow her steps in this to the T and you're golden.
