In his relentless quest for the perfect Melodic Rock album, Frontiers Recor… Read Full Bio ↴In his relentless quest for the perfect Melodic Rock album, Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino, envisioned a trans-Atlantic alliance between the multi-talented musician/songwriter/producer Daniel Flores (Issa, The Murder of My Sweet, Seventh Wonder) and one of the most gifted vocalists that graced the AOR scene in the past years, introducing mr. Robbie LaBlanc from Blanc Faces.

Based on the mutual recognition for each other's abilities, during 2011 Daniel started to work hard to seek and write the right songs which could create THE monster album! He knew from the beginning what was needed: rocking guitars, but fresh and spacious melodies where Robbie's vocal abilities could shine overall.

Some Swedish mates, such as Sören Kronqvist (Crash the System, Sunstorm) and Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T., Jimi Jamison) immediately answered the call, but strong contributions also came also from now regular Frontiers songwriters such as Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline) and brothers Tom and James Martin (Vega, Sunstorm), together with Issa and Mikey Wilson .

Each song was expertly crafted bearing in mind Robbie's vocal style and Daniel's production abilities, added to the amazing performances from Daniel Palmqvist (Xorigin) on guitar and Johnny Trobro on bass and fretless, create a massive musical result guaranteed to excite all the Melodic Rock fans.

"Take Journey's lesson from recent great albums like Revelation and Arrival, add it to some cool Foreigner and Def Leppard-ish and modern Swedish AOR and you'll get the idea of how Find Me is sounding" says Daniel Flores. I also like to think of this song as Marnie’s story.

Marnie didn’t have that much friends aside from Hisako and Kazuhiko.

Marnie kept smiling even when life was hard.
She lived her life with a smile. She was bullied by the maids and abused by Nan, but she went through all of it, thinking that life would be better someday.

“So I just stay in my room after hours with the moon”

Marnie was called the “Girl Behind the Blue Window”, which meant she was always looking out from that window. Hisako had also mentioned that she would look at the birds from her window and feel like as if they were speaking to her.

“And think of who knows my name”

Marnie was always alone in her room while her parents were out partying with their friends. It was like no one had acknowledged her existence. Emily had ignored Marnie and resented her for sending her away.

“Would you cry if I died, would you remember my face?”

When Marnie died, she had left Anna all alone, hoping that she would still remember her and love her and forgive her for leaving her.

“So I left home, I packed up and I moved far away from my past one day, and I laughed”

Marnie moved to Sapporo and married her childhood friend. They had a daughter named Emily. Marnie finally felt happy.

“Sometimes I feel lost, sometimes I’m confused, sometimes I find that I am not alright, and I cry”

When Marnie was left alone in the silo, she felt scared and lonely. Marnie “felt lost, confused and not alright” after Kazuhiko’s death and was placed in a sanatorium.

“And so I just stay in my room after hours with the moon, and think of who knows my name..

Would you cry if I died, would you remember my face?”

Marnie was looking down from her window, looking down at the crying Anna, pleading for forgiveness for leaving her in the silo, leaving her in the vast and cruel world. Anna forgave her, and cherished her. Marnie was at peace, knowing that her granddaughter knew that she loved her.

Marnie was finally happy.

For some reasons I can really relate to the movie because of the similarities of my life and let me summarize it.

My first name is Anna.
I have asthma.
I used to be extrovert and talkative and now I'm introvert which affects me a lot.
I was sent out to the country side when I was young because of my health condition.
I had a granny issue which is not that worst as what happened in the movie but she is now trying to reach out.
My grandmother is a mixed race.
I have short hair ever since I was a kid.
Lastly, I don't have blue eyes instead I have hazel brown eyes which I got from my grandma and people talk about it a lot.

Marnie didn't have a good childhood, was abused, her husband died, and her only daughter didn't want her and later losing her too. Anna was the only one left to her and she gave her all of her love. It was heart-breaking when Anna said she won't forgive her parents and grandma for leaving her all alone showing the ending where Marnie asking for her forgiveness for leaving her at the Silo (dying too soon). When Anna said "Of course, I forgive you. I love you," you can see the tremendous amount of happiness and relief on Marnie's face knowing that her beloved granddaughter had forgiven her. What a beautiful bitter-sweet story.

I literally begin to cry when marnie waves goodbye to anna. It was overwhelming and a beautiful movie with a good message. This song made me cry harder because it seriously felt like i was there with them, a part of their journey when actually i was just laying on my bed and crying at 3 am in the morning. By the way it was a good movie if u want to feel heart-warming and wonderful content.

My grandma died this year, due to Alzheimer's complications. I cried a lot on her funeral, and I thought I was doing fine. But yesterday, she appeared on my dreams in the way I remembered her. She came to visit and probably wanted to say she's okay, together with God.
This movie and this song made me cry once more, because it's story remember me a lot of her.

My grandma went into the hospital about six years ago and never came out. I remember one night a few weeks after she died, I had a dream where she came up to me at our church. She said she couldn't stay long but just wanted a hug. I hugged her as hard as I could and woke up knowing she had visited to let me know she was okay.

My grandma/Nan died last year due to dementia, I have felt comfort when I spoke at her wake and when I held her hand one last time before her cremation.

She was the best person and I'm glad I got to share my life with her and Poppy (My grandfather) I hope you all had a good life with your grandparents.

I showed her this movie not too many years before she passed and I cried then with her saying it reminded me of her, and she just told me that it's ok and that she loved me. She accepted death and she loved us. I'm glad and I cry happy tears.

Which is why Anna forgiving her in that climactic scene was so important and has the tendency to make me tear up every time - it was finally the forgiveness she never got from her daughter and granddaughter when she was alive, just the smallest recognition that she was trying to do the best she could for the ones she loved.

I don't think I've ever cried this hard after an anime. This song still tears me up when I listen to it.
I know it's a meme at this point, but this one just hit different from any other Ghibli movies that I've watched. Mainly because I related to Anna (as a lot of other people did from what I read in the comments).

This song at the end of the movie was straight up abusive, I had never cried so much from a damn film. I didn't like it at first and thought Anna was mean but then I started understsanding her as she understood herself and then boom the twist at the end and the song and I feel like I just got thrown around a laundry machine. and I loved it.

I'm talking about Marnie's life, how she can overcome all her problems, keep strong even her life also messed up at that time... how she tried her best. I relate so much to Marnie. Grew up in a wealthy family, but was neglected and abused, didn't have many people in her life she could rely on, etc. I'm still young and definitely have plenty of time for things to improve, but I really do see myself in her and try to emulate her positivity. Life is hard, life is painful, and everyone who I'm supposed to be able to rely on has left me or put me in harm's way.
The way she chooses to focus on the good parts of her life, the things that make her smile, etc. instead of wallowing in her pain. The way she just emanates positivity and comfort, it's something I strive to be. I do it in my own way, though. More brash, snarky, and always trying to make people laugh, but it's still got a lil bit of Marnie in there.

honestly, out of all the Ghibli movies, this was the most relatable movie to me. i went from being extremely extroverted in middle school to now sitting and eating by myself at high school everyday during break and lunch. because of this, my social skills have gone completely downhill and conversations just arent my thing anymore. i dont know if this is normal, but i hope there are people like me around the world so i could feel less lonely sometimes.

i'm the opposite actually; up until about age 10 i hated to be around people in school because they would bully me.
the teachers tried to get me to join in with other children, but that was worse as i felt bad for the people who hated me being forced to play with me. eventually i went into secondary school and gave up on my sad life. now i have built a personality wall around myself, but sometimes i still ask myself what the point is of having friends.

The best part of the movie is the plot twist when Marnie was the grandmother that raised Anna as a baby when her parents died and before becoming a foster child.
When Anna realized this, i cried so hard. She realized that Marnie was a real person and was a guardian angel throughout her rough childhood.

I had this tradition with my girlfriend of always watching movies and series together, despite I’m not a movies person, I would always watch them because of her. We met in a time in which we both had really horrible issues at home (she was 23 and I was 20), we were so lucky to meet each other in that specific time because we helped each other to get out of those horrible situations, we were each other’s pillar. After years together, turning into the love of my life and already considering to ask her to marry me in around a year, on May 2022 she was diagnosed with cancer; she fought as much as she could, but sadly she passed away in October, 15th of 2022. However, during her fight against cancer, we kept our tradition of watching movies together and this was the last movie we watched. Back then I didn’t notice, but now I can see how the plot is kind of similar to the way we met; we helped each other during a bad time and giving us each other love, we were able to overcome the bad moment we were going through when we met, then, sadly, once we had already helped and fixed each other, we were separated by destiny; everything very similar to the plot of the movie
Wherever you are, I hope you are resting in peace and you are happy; I hope you keep that giant smile and beautiful attitude you always had towards everything

Grave of the fireflies is one of the only movies that has hit me emotionally. I was very sad after having watched it but this movie hit in a completely different way and on a different level. A mix of sadness and unfair injustice over Marnies unjust fate. Truly a beautifull film.

With the caveat that “Grave of the Fireflies” was actually based on the 1967 semi-autobiographical story by Akiyuki Nosaka which he wrote so he can come to terms with the death of his sister, whose passing he blames himself for after all those years 😭 When I found out it was actually a true story with select embellishment with the attempt to rewrite a tragedy, it broke my heart even more. And to think I vowed to watch this only once in my life but I was forced to watch it because of an English class requirement 💔

One of my favorite scenes in this movie was at the festival. The fat girl asked Ana a question, Ana started to answer quietly but then another loud girl started talking to the fat girl and she turned to talk to her instead. Ana stopped talking and didn’t finish her sentence.
I was mind blown. How did the writers even remember small details like that to put into the film. It was so relatable. I was impressed. That’s exactly what it’s like when you’re like Ana at age 12. No one cares about what you have to say and no one is actually listening.

I come back to this movie every few years, and as a 25 year old, I have a very different perspective to when I was 18. Teared up so much more than I thought I would. One such example was when Anna called her aunty, mother, and her reaction... It just hit me like a freight train with that line, and I just couldn't stop tearing up. And that ending song still makes me tear up even more. I'm a very mute person when it comes to my personality, or I guess my mask is up 100% of the time, allowing myself to interact with the professional world. Feels so strange and familiar to cry and feel such raw emotions. Probably haven't teared up in months. This movie is so relatable, and on another note, I love the interior art of Oiwa's house; all the canning jars and pots, etc.

Still up there with my favorite movies of all time. Did not disappoint. Still, to this day.

Soon as the guitar strings kicked in at the end I had tears flowing. Then when Marnie waves at Anna it was all over. Blurry end credits. I felt compelled to re watch it a few days later just for this scene and I had a much bigger cry but it felt good. OffLoading some months of build up I think.

It really made me cry a lot, It reminds me so much of my grandma, how she always makes me laugh with all her stories and how good a ll the food she always make when I come to her home. This movie has made me cry so many times. I haven't had any friends or someone to talk to for a couple of years. I was 13 when I saw the movie, back then all I wanted was a friend, desperately wanted someone. So it was not difficult to empathize with Ana and fall in love with Marnie and how she slowly healed the wounds of the other girl. Knowing that we all suffer, that being friends is more than just having fun, wanting someone to understand you and having to do the same. Such a pure and beautiful friendship. Even now, I hope we can all experience the joy of having a friend, no one deserves to be alone.

I was 12 when I moved into Canada, this past December 4th celebrates my 3rd year here and I'm now 15. A lot of things changed in my life since I moved here, had a lot of trouble talking to people due to language barrier. I would get separated from class every day for reading sessions with a teacher to help improve my english. This made me feel like I was stupid and not part of the class. I still struggle to speak to people nowadays even though I have already improved through time, I still think too much what others may think of me, my grammar, and my speech skills. It really feels depressing not having someone who hears you out on trying times, someone whom you have mutual love and respect with and someone who you are comfortable with. I really hope that one day I will find my "Marnie".

Everybody says that it was Marnie's ghost who came to Anna when she was near the March House. But I don't think so. We learn that Marnie told Anna of her live, of her stories, when Anna was little and Marnie calls Anna Kazuhiko once, when they are in the tower. (In my opinion Anna re-lives this and more) Marnie tells this as an old woman to her granddaughter, saying that she was afraid until Kazuhiko came, comforted her and they went out together. She tells this and more to Anna, her granddaughter. I personally think that while Anna was still little, the stories she heard engraved in her brain (in the part of it where memories are), and when she came to the place Marnie used to live, she re-lived the stories her grandmother had told her. She couldn't remember that those were the stories of her grandmother, until she found out that Marnie was her grandmother. I think this was the way her brain probably could process every memory that came from deep down to Anna's consciousness.
Well, I love the book as well as the movie. I just wanted to state my interpretation of what happened to Anna in the March House and in this place. She re-lived the stories Marnie told her when she was little.

I don't usually cry at films, but this film literally had me in tears after watching it. As a few days went by after my first view of it, every time I thought about it, the first thing I remember was how the film made me feel and just saying to myself "I can't believe how sad and impactful it was". The film legitimately ruined me for days, but that doesn't mean I didn't like it because it made me depressed nor does it mean I liked it because I was impressed with how sad it was. It means I absolutely adore this film, the characters, the story and the meaning behind it all. It is a very personal film and means so much to me. Thank you Studio Ghibli, I hope this wasn't their last film and if it was then what a send off to a company that's done a lot for cinema.

Fortunately for you you this isn’t their last film. Sure there was Earwig and the Witch which I am sure was divisive among Ghibli fans. Beyond that though Hayao Miyazaki will be coming out of retirement to work on one last film titled How Do You Live coming out in 2023.

I just finished watching the movie and this song caught my soul 'cause i didn't have a very good childhood back then. I rarely had good times with my friends 'cause i often felt left out. It's now almost midnight and played this song more than 5 times and I can't help myself from crying remembering the pain i felt back in those days. I started vibing on my own by the time i started feeling left out. I play dolls on my own and talking to myself while playing. I also started being distant to people until my high school days. I had social anxiety because of those experiences. This is why now that am already an adult, am so used in comforting and talking to myself. I tried fixing myself. In fact, i just started vibing with people but things still aren't going well. Now am back to the original me again. The 'me' when i was a child.

. I just think, Anna needed to move on (cause she got eaten by her past) and marnie helped her.

there is this theory that time was frozen near the mansion but everytime anna made contact with water, rain or liquid somehow she would return to reality. just see how many times she would be washed away by rain water or something else, and the longer time she spends with marnie, the worse her condition got, because she was spending time with a spirit, she was also slowly dying, or fainting too, because her energy was leaving her.

All those were thoughts hallucinations of Anna
the hallucinations were based on the stories which Marnie used to tell her during childhood and all these complied when Anna watched the house
