Lagacé and Peters were on seperate musician paths for several years prior to their encounter. Once Peters took a decision to knuckle down and pursue, he composed songs and kept them underground until entering into the forest... literally. Following a call to friends who lent him their time, material and a remote cabin, it was down to business... and fate. By chance, David Lagacé joined the musical journey in the woods and this became the birthplace of their inspired connection. Armed with strong influences such as Timber Timbre, Bon Iver, Feist and Radiohead, their title was born from sitting around the open camp, fresh air, flowing creativity...and beer. It was agreed in that moment to make greatness, Fire really does Work...
With music this compelling a strong following has emerged and is rapidly growing. Fire/Works are playing gigs back-to-back and have won festivals enabling them to follow up their successful EP with a self-released album to astounding reviews.
The band took another leap in recognition after touring with Half Moon Run in Feb 2013... even selling out of CDs halfway through the tour due to high demands! And to add to the awe, this all from a band of less than 2 years old...
Listeners have immediately jumped to the comparisons… Damien Rice, Patrick Watson and Coldplay to name a few… but do not assume this is just any other addition to the new age of folk genre. Combining an outdoors inspired duet emerging from the live, underground bustling city of Montreal… there is a rough edge to that pretty scenery.
