Fear
First Blood Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Why are we LIVING IN FEAR
Of who we are and what we have
Afraid to STAND FOR OUR BELIEFS
To rise against, voice our dissent
And not be torn DOWN FROM WITHIN

The more we give, the more they take
If they can KEEP US ALL AFRAID
Taking advantage to make sure that we are...

Kept in a constant state of...
Kept in a constant state of... FEAR!

Why are we living... LIVING IN FEAR
Why are we living in FEAR

Of what we do not understand
LIVING IN FEAR
As we keep eating out of their hands
LIVING IN FEAR
This plague I cannot comprehend
LIVING IN FEAR
When will this madness ever END

Searching for the answers but they're
NOWHERE TO BE FOUND
As they take our rights and bury them
SIX FEET IN THE GROUND

SEARCHING FOR THE ANSWERS
BUT THEY'RE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND

As they take our rights, our freedom, and liberties and bury them...
SIX FEET IN THE GROUND

Why are we living in...

FEAR of organizing
FEAR of consequences
FEAR to take a risk and...

FEAR of organizing
FEAR of sacrificing
FEAR of realizing

Why are we living in FEAR?

Overall Meaning

The song "Fear" by First Blood is a powerful anthem that speaks out against the culture of fear and oppression that holds society back from standing up for their beliefs and fighting against injustice. The lyrics question why we live in fear of ourselves and others, afraid to speak our minds and challenge the status quo. The opening lines ask why we are living in fear of who we are and what we have, highlighting the fact that we often hold ourselves back from reaching our full potential due to fear of failure or rejection.

The lyrics continue to explore the theme of fear by speaking about the way that those in power often manipulate and control us by keeping us in a constant state of fear. This fear keeps us from challenging authority and speaking out against injustice, as we are afraid of the consequences. The line "As they take our rights and bury them six feet in the ground" speaks to the way that our freedom and liberties can be stripped away from us under the guise of protection and safety.

The final line of the song "Why are we living in fear?" sums up the overall message of the song, encouraging listeners to question the underlying reasons why we allow ourselves to live in a constant state of fear and to take action to overcome it. The song encourages us to be brave, to stand up for our beliefs, and to not be torn down from within.

Exactly. Hardcore isnt supposed to be about breakups, having party and so on...Its supposed to be an opinion, its supposed to have a message, to give another point of view, to give something to think about and hopefully to talk about.

@sK8eReriCk i just listened to the songs on Sovereign Strength's myspace and facebook bandpage. Sounds like solid, modern hardcore. however I think they should reduce the number of breakdowns, because it sometimes destroys the "flow" of the song. still a good band though. Do you know the band Gideon? I'm currently waiting for their album to drop. Heard some songs from their new release and it's really awesome.
