The band's debut album The Way of the Fist was released in 2007, which began achieving rapid success and selling over 500,000 copies in the United States. The 2009 follow-up album War Is the Answer further increased their popularity, selling over 1,000,000 copies and got certified Platinum by the RIAA, the band's third album, American Capitalist, was released on October 11, 2011, and achieved Platinum status. The following four albums—The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1 (2013), The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 (2013), Got Your Six (2015), and And Justice for None (2018)—have all been certified Platinum and Gold, making Five Finger Death Punch one of the most successful heavy metal bands of the decade. The band has played international music festivals including Mayhem Festival in 2008, 2010, and 2013, and Download Festival in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2015, and 2017. The band released their eighth studio album, F8, in 2020.

The band originally consisted of vocalist and keyboardist Ivan Moody, rhythm guitarist Zoltan Bathory, lead guitarist Caleb Andrew Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Bingham was replaced by guitarist Darrell Roberts in 2006, who was then replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. Bassist Matt Snell departed from the band in 2010, and was replaced by Chris Kael in 2011. Spencer then departed the band in 2018 due to recurring back issues, and was replaced by Charlie Engen, making rhythm guitarist Bathory the only remaining founding member of the band. In October 2020, British guitarist Andy James became the band's lead guitarist, replacing Jason Hook.

Five Finger Death Punch are the recipients of the RadioContraband Rock Radio Awards for "Indie Artist of the Year" in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. They were also honored with the Radio Contraband Rock Radio Award for Album (American Capitalist) and Song of the Year ("Coming Down") in 2012 and "Video of the Year" for "Wrong Side of Heaven" in 2014.

To date, Five Finger Death Punch has released nine studio albums, one live album, two compilation albums, one extended play (EP), and 33 singles.

@Morgan Dulaney Good. Lol. If you're angry, you're inspired. I liked this album as a whole, but this is still the standout track from 7 months ago when I commented this. Heaviest, sure, but also the most passionate IMO. If liking a heavy song of theirs makes me a toxic fan, then so be it. My second favorite is A Little Bit Off, which is clearly not heavy, but it seems like they actually enjoyed making it. Whether made out of anger or for the fun of it, it's inspired.

I love how everyone is praising how heavy this song is when they are literally mocking the people who complain that FFDP isn't heavy enough 😂

Look, I love Metal music. FFDP is the band that got me into the more aggressive type vocals (I used to hate screaming in music) but to always bash on them because they aren't heavy enough for YOUR taste is absolutely ridiculous.

If you want a heavier sound, there are plenty of other bands out there for your personal taste. I will admit I like their more heavy sound, but let them create the music they want to create. They aren't your personal puppet to play with and automatically discard when you get bored. Believe it or not, behind every band are bunch of human beings that go through pain and turmoil just like you.

Exactly. People are never pleased. They complain saying they want Death Punch to go heavier again. So they do, and people complain that it isn't enough. People complain that they always do the same thing, but when the band tries to switch it up this album, people either say it's too much or too little. So what is it exactly that people want? I know right, I like this song too, I find it amazing how well Ivan can sing the vocals and how all the other members can create such a sound. For me, I like them for who they are, but hearing this was a new experience for me from them, I wouldnt mind having more like this, but I'll still enjoy their music even if its not. Finally a song that goes toe to toe with other modern metal bands! A very
Solid song. Best use of Ivan's raw vocal backing it up with pure heavy guitar riffs and for a new drummer filling the void left by previous drummer Jeremy Spencer. Charlie more reminds me of a young Jeremy the way of the fist and war is the answer era.

@notjohn100 Honestly, the record label they were on REALLY made it seem that way the last 3 albums. This album here is on a completely new record. And it honestly shows how much better this is compared to the last 3 or 4 albums. They're having more freedom and living up to the fact that this album is gonna go back to the much more heavier sound we came to know and love. Is it as good as the first two albums? Hell no and I dont think FFDP will make something as heavy and amazing as the first two, even three to an extent. F8 in my opinion is the best album we got since the 3rd album in 2011. I respect your opinion though and understand what you mean, however, the thing I disagree with HEAVILY is that Nickelback has more thought out lyrics. Nickelback stopped caring after like the 3rd or 4th album.

This band is in my top ten list of awesome music. That's actually hard to achieve because I listen to black Sabbath,dio,Judas priest,and quite a few more bands, all of which are awesome in their own right. I don't understand some people who talk about this band like they're Vanessa Carlton or some shit. Yes,they have made more mellow music,but those are the songs they want you to hear the lyrics from an emotional level of. Then there are the songs that you want to go into world war 3 with,full volume,all guns blazing, and you feel you'd still be standing tall afterward. Five finger death punch is actually pretty diverse with their range of musical talent. Hope they're remembered for the next millennium at least.

It's just so REFRESHING to finally hear a good album and a heavy album from FFDP. I personally did not enjoy the last 3 albums. ESPECIALLY And Justice For None. But F8?? It's such a damn good album. THIS is the FFDP we know and love. I only hope they continue going up from here!
