Strangers
Fizzy Blood Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Picture this, a swing and a miss
Never exchanging a name
Infatuated, I contemplated you lips
But my infatuation was strange
Black, purple, and cream
These are the colors of your nightmares, and colors of my dreams
Strange though as it seems
You know I′m standing in the corner

A place where I can see your silhouette
Looks kinda lonely could it use some company?
But I can never tell,
Tell if you saw me through the lights and smoke machines

In my mind, I'm killing time, ′til I can get you alone
I've watched and waited as the evening subsides
But here I am once again stuck to my phone

Sweat, smoke, and perfume
You know I'll never find a moment to place me next to you
Enjoying the view
But still I′m standing in the corner

A place where I can see your silhouette
Looks kinda lonely could it use some company?
But I can never tell,
Tell if you saw me through the lights and smoke machines

Black, purple, and cream
These are the colors of your nightmares, and colors of my dreams
Strange though as it seems
You know I′m standing in the corner
A place where I can see your silhouette

Your silhouette, looks kinda lonely
Could it use some company?
But I can never tell,
Tell if you saw me through the lights and smoke machines

Your silhouette, looks kinda lonely
Could it use some company?

But I can never tell,
Tell if you saw me through the lights and smoke machines

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song Strangers by Fizzy Blood convey the feeling of being an outsider in a social setting. The title itself suggests a sense of separation and disconnect from others. In the first verse, the singer describes their unsuccessful attempts to make a connection with someone they are infatuated with. They cannot even exchange names with this person, which emphasizes their disconnection from the social scene. The lyrics "Black, purple and cream, these are the colors of your nightmares, and colors of my dreams" suggest that the singer and their crush are different in some way. The singer seems to find comfort in observing their crush from afar, standing in the corner and watching their silhouette. The second verse portrays the singer's frustration with their inability to get closer to their crush. They describe the atmosphere of the party, with its "sweat, smoke and perfume," and their feeling of being stuck, waiting for a chance to talk to their crush. The chorus repeats the idea of the singer standing in the corner, watching their crush's silhouette, and wondering if they are noticed. The repetition of this line emphasizes the singer's isolation and their longing for connection.

The lyrics of Strangers could be interpreted in different ways by listeners depending on their personal experiences. However, it seems clear that the song is about the feeling of being a spectator rather than a participant in social situations. The singer is separated from others, watching from a distance and unable to make a connection. The song is also notable for its use of colors to convey emotions. The colors mentioned in the lyrics - black, purple, and cream - are associated with darkness, mystery, and softness, respectively. These colors add to the sense of separation and otherness that the singer experiences.
