We are hesitant to represent Jesus and our faith because we are ashamed.

Jesus is God and He took many lashes
Jesus is a divine being who suffered and was punished severely.

With a legion of angels could have beat the masses
Jesus had the power to defeat any opposition, but He chose to suffer for our sins.

So the least I can do is speak the truth in these glasses
I must do my part in spreading the truth and sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

You can tell the size of a ship by the waves it leaves
A ship's impact and size can be measured by the waves it creates in the water.

Now who's name has been made into a figure of speech

But it's the definition that's in it and it is Christ like
Despite any negative connotations associated with the term, it represents the Christ-like nature we strive for.

We prefer the sounds of the divine to the meaningless lyrics of some rap music.

These material pursuits may ultimately lead them to jail or an early death.

And some will get out and continue to live backwards
Some will leave jail, but their lives will continue to be unfulfilling and negative.

But you want it cause it's so attractive
Despite the potential harmful consequences, the desired possessions are very alluring.

And ignore the One keepin' tabs on your track list
You are ignoring God, who is keeping a record of your actions and choices in life.

Dust to dust and ashes to ashes
Inevitably, everything in life returns to dust and ashes.

I would ask for grace from Jesus' passion
I would request forgiveness and grace from Jesus' suffering and sacrifice.
