Rise Up
Flame & The Sons Of Darkness Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Life I've done it all so fast
Love of my life you came last
Now I'm scared we'll run out of time
When my heart belongs to you and yours is mine
Time, time it's rushing rushing on by

Rise up rise up rise up above our fears
Where will cherish all our years and all our yesterdays
Rise up rise up now let's try
No time to ask why?
Rise up with me

Dum-da-da-di-da-dum
Da-da-di-da-dum
Da-da-di-da-dum

Dum-da-da-di-da-dum
Da-da-di-da-dum
Da-da-di-da-dum

We don't
We don't always get to choose
Put our cards on the table
Not sure if we'll win or loose

We gamble we call
Pretend to know it all
So rise up rise up with me

Rise up rise up rise up above our fears
Where will cherish all our years and all our yesterdays
Rise up rise up now let's try
No time to ask why?
Rise up with me

Dum-da-da-di-da-dum
Da-da-di-da-dum
Da-da-di-da-dum

Dum-da-da-di-da-dum

Da-da-di-da-dum
Da-da-di-da-dum

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Rise Up" by Flame & The Sons Of Darkness touch upon themes of love, time, and taking chances in life. The opening lines express a sense of urgency and a realization of how fast life moves. The singer reflects on experiencing various aspects of life swiftly, only to find love as the final piece of the puzzle. There is a fear of running out of time with the one they love, highlighting the preciousness of the connection. The lines "When my heart belongs to you and yours is mine" symbolize a deep emotional bond that is reciprocated.

The chorus, with its repetition of "Rise up," is a call to action to overcome fears and uncertainties. It encourages embracing and cherishing the past, present, and future with a sense of positivity and determination. The repetition of the phrase "Rise up with me" reinforces the idea of facing challenges and embracing life together as a unified force. The mention of time passing by quickly emphasizes the importance of seizing the moment and not dwelling on uncertainties or doubts.

The rhythmic interlude with nonsensical syllables serves as a musical break but also adds a sense of playfulness and spontaneity to the song. It contrasts with the deeper themes of the lyrics, perhaps offering a moment of lightness and freedom within the overall message. The lyrics then delve into the idea that in life, we don't always have control over the circumstances we face. There is a sense of uncertainty, mirrored in the metaphor of gambling and not knowing the outcome. Despite the unpredictability of life, there is a call to rise above fears and uncertainties, to take risks and live fully.

In the final repetition of the chorus, the insistence to "Rise up" is a resounding exhortation to embrace life wholeheartedly, to cherish each moment and overcome any obstacles that come our way. The urgency in the lyrics conveys a sense of making the most of the present without dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Ultimately, "Rise Up" is a song that speaks to the beauty of love, the fleeting nature of time, and the importance of taking chances and rising above challenges with a sense of unity and determination.

@@staygold902 everything they’ve done has been over-produced since “the black album.”

They, clearly, were more concerned with radio play and profits.

Most of the other “big four” bands have stayed fairly true to themselves.

But, then again, maybe James and Lars are staying true to themselves. Maybe their political awareness and desire for complexity was just a phase. Maybe they changed and no longer care about the state of the nation, the state of the people, the death of democracy, the ravages of war.

Maybe now, they just want to write music that is simple to play and people can shake their booties to it.

However, I will give them respect for this song. It’s got a dark feel.

I’ve got to give some respect. Metallica had a little an influence on me when I started writing thrash metal and playing in bands.

Although, admittedly, I was MORE (musically) influenced Hexanhaus, Overkill and Death Angel.

Jame’s vocal style definitely (originally) influenced my style.

I just wish they would care about social issues, again. They have the power to influence people, wake them the f… up.

But, I guess, once some people become wealthy, they become detached from the struggles of people who are less affluent. I guess they no longer care about service members who get used like pawns in illegal wars.

I cared, in my teens. I joined (for financial reasons). I served in an illegal invasion. So, my level of care about corruption only increased with age.

I just wish Jame’s still cared about service members, and other who struggle.

He used to care about freedom and had a dislike for corruption. I wish he still would.
