3) Flash was an English progressive rock group, formed by former Yes guitarist Peter Banks and vocalist Colin Carter in August 1971. After Peter Banks found himself replaced in Yes by Steve Howe, he set his sights on creating a new band. That band was Flash. The group formed in 1971 when Banks recruited longtime associate Ray Bennett (Gun) along with Colin Carter (Pete Bardens' Camel) and Mike Hough. Original Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye rounded out the group. Flash had a sound that felt a lot like that of Yes on its first two albums, but perhaps with a more pop-oriented texture. The group also had a more free-form approach to its virtuosic jamming, seeming to prefer improvisation to well-charted music. Flash's first album, a self-titled one, was released the following year. Kaye did not stay around very long past that release. Rather than replace him, the group carried on as a four-piece. They released two more albums, In the Can and Out of Our Hands in 1973. The group broke up shortly afterwards.

Monday Morning Eyes
Flash Lyrics

Monday morning eyes
Heavenly disguised like a wall paper gaze
Ten o'clock reports
A gorgeous girl with bedroom eyes is saying to me
I feel the breath of life today inside of me
Riverside at noon
Shadowed by the gloom
Of city life they wither now to where they came
Never to be heard today and take their place
Thinking someday they will say the words you feel
Thinking maybe they are in your heart
Could a human voice convey the feelings in your world
Could a person see the smallest light
Would it take a stronger hand than fate to kill
Every ounce of hope you have but still
Long time is needed for the celebration
?
But there are some times when hallucinations are strong
If not to dominate your situation
What a day has dawn
?
The path is clear
And you've been told
Thinking someday they will say the words you feel
Thinking maybe they are in your heart
Could a human voice convey the feelings in your world
Could a person see the smallest light
Would it take a stronger hand than fate to kill
Every ounce of hope you have but still
The song "Monday Morning Eyes" by Flash is a contemplative piece that explores the feeling of hopelessness and uncertainty that sometimes comes with the start of a new week. The singer describes his eyes as "heavenly disguised like a wallpaper gaze," suggesting a false sense of happiness or contentment. The lyrics then move on to a work environment, where a beautiful woman with "bedroom eyes" speaks to the singer, presumably distracting him from his tasks at hand. The singer then contemplates the fleeting nature of creativity and inspiration, saying that songs that once felt bursting and alive have now disappeared, possibly never to be heard again. The lyrics then move to a more philosophical discussion about the power of hope and the perseverance needed to hold onto it in the face of adversity. The singer questions whether a human voice or sight could convey the depth of emotion he feels and whether fate holds the power to completely crush hope. The song ends with a sense of determination and a call to action, urging the listener to persevere even in the face of difficult times.
Overall, "Monday Morning Eyes" is a song that speaks to the struggle that many people feel at the start of a new week, and the sense of uncertainty and doubt that can creep in. The song's lyrics capture this feeling in a relatable and introspective way, while also offering a message of hope and resilience.
