Upside Down
Fleece Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Sexy man on the sidewalk
Let me greet with my eyeballs
It ain't politically correct so
I'll stop ogling you
And I'm sorry if you feel weird now
While you're looking into my smile
If two men just ain't right
Then I'm living in a world that's upside down, yeah

And I'm feeling so good when I'm upside down, down, do-do, down
Down, do-do, down

Today I'm staying inside
Got the boys on my mind
Just to make me feel better
'Cause I'm feeling so good when I'm upside down, yeah

And I'm feeling so good when I'm upside down, down, do-do, down
Down, do-do, down, yeah

And I'm feeling so good when I'm upside down, down, do-do, down

Do-do-do-down, do-do-down, oh baby, come on, yeah
And I'm feeling so good when I'm upside down

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Fleece's song "Upside Down" explore themes of attraction and societal norms. The opening line introduces a "sexy man on the sidewalk," suggesting the singer's immediate interest and attraction to this person. However, the lyrics acknowledge that such behavior might not be considered politically correct, leading the singer to restrain themselves from ogling the person further. This self-awareness is expressed through an apology for making the other person feel uncomfortable, while emphasizing the connection created through a smile.

The following lines convey a sense of irony and contradiction, as the singer expresses that if the attraction between two men is considered wrong or unnatural in society, then they feel like they are living in a world that is upside down. This notion challenges societal norms and encourages listeners to question the validity of such restrictions on love and desire.

The chorus repeats the phrase, "And I'm feeling so good when I'm upside down," reinforcing the idea that breaking away from societal expectations and embracing one's true self brings a sense of joy and liberation. The repetition highlights the singer's contentment and confidence in defying norms.

Overall, "Upside Down" encourages listeners to embrace their desires and challenge societal limitations, celebrating the freedom that comes with accepting one's true self.

Coming here after 5 years of knowing half this band as "Those stoned dudes making an alt-j song" just gave me whiplash. Y'all are genuinely good.

I love that Fleece is actually a band.
Not a single singer with an array of producers and constantly changing background players, not a rapper focused on image, not a single guy behind a computer synth.
A real, classic band with 4 talented and cohesive members and a combined creative vision.
Something about Fleece is too pure for this world today. Its exactly what we need, but don't deserve.

I agree that fleece is super dope. As a single guy who was in a group of four musicians that all combined ideas for several years and realized it wasn't working for him and is now exploring the creation and production of songs on his own, it feels kinda invalidating to hear ur comment :/ I don't think that was ur intention (or at least I hope not lmao) but I felt like sharing a perspective might offer some insight. The Beatles narrative kinda glamorized "the band" but, like any other social structure, it is often a lot more nuanced w varying factors and individual capacities. All love my dude ✌🏼 hope you fall in love w an unconventional artist 😛

they’re a good band,, that’s all that needs to be said
A band of two people who can play instruments but also rely on computer synths with beautiful creative visions for music, videos, and on stage performances are JUST AS VALID AND G O O D
If every band alive today was just 4 people who played different instruments with little to no computer synths and had the same level of creativity but all with different ideas, wouldn’t that be a bit boring?? I understand modern mumble rappers being absolutely garbage lmao,, but people of all different sized bands with different ways of producing music with different creative ideas are valid,,,,
you may not find some bands interesting but some people do so let them be and don’t invalidate them or say “they’re not actually a band” because they don’t fit YOUR band expectations of music, people, and performance ,, mmmk??

potallegta

Nothing wrong about those things though
