Landslide
Fleetwood Ma c Lyrics

Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'Til the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Mmm
Well, I've been 'fraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm gettin' older, too
Well, I've been 'fraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm gettin' older, too
Oh, I'm gettin' older, too
Ah, take my love, take it down
Oh, climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
Oh, the landslide will bring it down
The lyrics to "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac are a poignant reflection on change and the passage of time. The singer took their love and climbed a mountain, only to see their reflection in the snow-covered hills. The landslide then brings them down, implying that something outside of their control has caused them to fall. Throughout the song, the singer asks questions about love, the child within their heart, and whether they can handle the changing tides and seasons of life. The repeated refrain of "time makes you bolder, even children get older, and I'm getting older too" emphasizes the singer's fear of change, but also their willingness to accept it and grow from it.
The opening line "I took my love, I took it down" is often interpreted as a metaphor for leaving a romantic relationship or starting a new chapter in life. The line "mirror in the sky, what is love?" can be seen as a plea for answers and understanding. The use of natural imagery like mountains and snow-covered hills highlights the song's themes of change and the passing of time, while the repetition of the chorus creates a sense of inevitability in the singer's journey.

I used to sing this at the top of my lungs to my husband Damon. 15 years of marriage and 4 kids later he was killed on his way to work one day 4 days after Christmas. Now I sing it to my children and miss the man we built our life around. Learning to continue on without you is the hardest. Damon, the children are getting older....RIP forever 37
