Don't Stop Believin'
Flight 409 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit
He took the midnight train goin anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

(chorus)

Dont stop believin

Hold on to the feelin
Streetlight people

Overall Meaning

The song "Don't Stop Believin'" by Flight 409 tells the story of two people who leave everything they know behind in search of something greater. The opening lines introduce the two characters - a small town girl and a city boy - both on a midnight train, going "anywhere". The listener is given a sense of their shared sense of desperation and longing for change, as they seek to escape their respective worlds and embark on a new adventure.

The second verse takes us to a smokey room where a singer croons, accompanied by the smell of wine and cheap perfume. The singer is performing for a group of strangers, who are all hoping to find some emotional connection in the night. This description of a dingy, gritty club adds to the sense of escape and adventure that the characters are chasing.

The chorus, with its iconic phrase "Don't stop believin'", is a call to arms of sorts, urging listeners to hold on to their hope and their dreams. The closing lines reinforce this message with the image of streetlight people - individuals who are searching for meaning and purpose in the midst of the darkness.

Overall, the song paints a picture of the human experience - the struggle to make sense of the world and find happiness, as well as the courage it takes to pursue one's dreams in the face of adversity.

awesomecutie5411 they didn't , my dad was the manager of that band. They got stoned before they preformed a concert in Florida right before they were gonna sign with the same dude that had all American rejects on their label. They ruined it for themselves and couldn't even remwmber the song they were doing.
