On the orange slide terrace
I ain’t gon pretend
To die is my terror
But you look me in the eyes
You’ve become some type pharaoh
You take me on trial
And show me my errors
The truth we unravel her
See I’ve met an unraveller
Mark this day on your calendars
It goes deep like the vascular
For like a train at a station
I’ve met a time traveler
Loco motives
Make me the culprit
As I’m devoted
I built a totem
It is quite potent
A soul I’ve chosen
The gates have opened
The song is posted
The song’s encoded
You could say it’s coated
As winter poison
This one’s corrosive
Lord can eat my scrotum
For taking kids away
The pen game’s explosive
Yes I’m pissed off
Yes I’m bitter
You take my friend away
But allow to live a killer
Nevertheless
He lives on in my head
Even thought to most
He’s already dead
How can there be a higher power
When you never use your higher power
How can there be a higher power
The clock ticks away at every hour
How can there be a higher power
When you never use your higher power
How can there be a higher power
The clock ticks away at every hour
I question your existence
You’ve never shown up in my life
The only time you chose to show up
Turned out in a different past time
But we celebrate your birth
Every single year
In fact it’s absurd
To live such a long career
Our love is unconditional
They claim you help
But within the subliminal
Only one to blame’s myself
You don’t cause pain
That’s work of the Devil
But you’re one and the same
A coin flip has to settle
Money rules these planes
Yet we are all one vessel
How can there be a higher power
When you never use your higher power
How can there be a higher power
The clock ticks away at every hour
How can there be a higher power
When you never use your higher power
How can there be a higher power
The clock ticks away at every hour
How can there be a higher power
When you never use your higher power
How can there be a higher power
The clock ticks away at every hour
How can there be a higher power
When you never use your higher power
How can there be a higher power
The clock ticks away at every hour
The lyrics to Flow & Zeo's song "Higher" are a contemplation on the existence of a higher power, and the struggles and questions that arise when considering our place in the universe. The opening verse sets the scene for a conversation with this higher power, as the singer meets them on an "orange slide terrace." The fear of death is acknowledged, but the higher power - who is likened to a pharaoh - takes the singer on trial, showing them their errors in a moment of truth that is both deep and challenging.
Throughout the song, the lyrics touch on themes of mortality, anger, loss, and spirituality. The singer voices their frustration with this higher power, questioning their existence and feeling let down by their apparent absence in the singer's life. They take issue with the idea of celebrating the higher power's birth when their presence is so unclear, and by the end of the song, the singer is left with the unanswered question of how there can be a higher power when we never use our own power.
The song's lyrics are thought-provoking and open to interpretation, inviting listeners to engage with the bigger questions about what it means to exist in the world. Through its poetic language and introspective themes, "Higher" is both a meditation on spirituality and a commentary on the human condition.
