Y recorté para ti unas rosas rojas
Las meteré en un jarrón
Y regaré con amor sus verdes hojas
No has visto los regalos
Que compramos para ti
Todo sería más fácil
Hoy es la fecha especial
Y envenené para ti un lindo pescado
Los candelabros prendidos
Columpiándose en el vino rosado
Hoy es la fecha especial
Y cenaremos con tu recuerdo
Y seguirán los festejos
En un lugar que está muy lejos
No has visto los regalos
Que compramos para ti
Todo tendría sentido
Si cenaras aquí
No has visto los regalos
Que compramos para ti
Todo sería más fácil
Si estuvieras aquí
Hoy es la fecha especial
Si estuvieras aquí
Si estuvieras aquí
The song La Fecha Especial by Fobia is a poignant reflection on loss and absence. The lyrics describe a special day when the singer has prepared gifts and decorations for a loved one who is no longer present. The singer speaks directly to the absent person, expressing their longing for them to be there to share in the celebration. The gifts and preparations are bittersweet reminders of the person's absence, and the singer imagines how much easier everything would be if the person were there.
The first verse sets the scene with the singer preparing roses and vowing to care for them with love. The second verse describes the preparations for a special meal, including a poisoned fish and candles in pink wine. The chorus repeats the longing for the absent person to be there, emphasizing the emptiness of the celebration without them. The final chorus ends with a plea for the person to return, reinforcing the message that their presence is the most important gift of all.
This song is a powerful evocation of grief and the longing for a loved one who is gone. The use of specific images, such as the roses and the poisoned fish, adds depth and texture to the emotions being expressed. The repetition of the chorus throughout the song creates a haunting, melancholy feeling that lingers long after the music stops.
