Another sideways glance
I thought that love could be real
I thought of taking a chance
I didn't talk to you
And oh I turned away
I can't be love could be through
That we'd throw it away
And if you didn't really want
How come
It's your memory that haunts me
You - are not alone
No matter where - where you go
And if you leave here - leave in the morning light
And in the day - you will see clearly
Then I was walking through
The park the other day
I thought of all of the things
I'd forgotten to say
Will I be taking down
The story of my life
Appalled at all of the words
I'd forgotten to write
Like if you didn't really need me
And if you didn't really want
How come (how come)
Well it's your memory that haunts me
You - are not alone
No matter where - where you go
And if you leave me - leave in the morning light
And in the day - you will see clearly
Cause if you didn't really need me
And if you didn't really want
How come? (how come)
Well it's your memory that haunts me
Instead of sentimental long nights
Let's come together with the lights on
The sun (the sun)
Light on my bed will know where I've gone
The lyrics of "All My Life" by Foo Fighters explore the theme of lost love and regret. In the first verse, the singer reflects on his failed relationship and laments that he didn't take a chance on love. He feels haunted by memories of his ex-lover and wonders why he's still so attached to someone who didn't need or want him. The chorus asserts that despite the pain of heartbreak, the singer is not alone and encourages his ex to leave him in the morning light, so they can both move on with clarity.
In the second verse, the singer reflects on missed opportunities to communicate his feelings and wonders if he will regret not expressing himself fully. The bridge suggests a desire to move past the pain of the past and into a future where the singer can be open and honest. The final lines express a hope for connection that is grounded in reality, rather than the sentimentality of long nights.
Overall, the lyrics of "All My Life" express a deep emotional pain and conflict that will resonate with anyone who has experienced heartbreak. The song acknowledges the complexity of relationships and the regret that can come with lost love, but ultimately holds on to a sense of hope for the future.

Lyrics:
All my life, I've been searching for something
Something never comes, never leads to nothing
Nothing satisfies but I'm getting close
Closer to the prize at the end of the rope
All night long I dream of the day
When it comes around and it's taken away
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most
Feel it come to life when I see your ghost
Calm down, don't you resist
You've such a delicate wrist
And if I give it a twist
Something to hold when I lose my grip
Will I find something in there
To give me just what I need?
Another reason to bleed
One by one hidden up my sleeve
One by one hidden up my sleeve
Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down
Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down
Will I find a believer?
Another one who believes
Another one to deceive
Over and over, down on my knees
If I get any closer
And if you open up wide
And if you let me inside
On and on, I got nothing to hide
On and on, I got nothing to hide
Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down
Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down
All my life, I've been searching for something

Closer to the prize at the end of the rope
All night long, I dream of the day
When it comes around and it's taken away
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most
Feel it come to life when I see your ghost
Then I'm done, done, on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one

I was a 17yr old young black teen. I smoked a joint and sat down In my room and MTV just happen to be showing this... As someone who grew up on rap.. it was the most awesome thing I had seen. I mean you couldnt pick my jaw up from the ground. Watching them chop on there axes like that.. Long story short this was the first rock album I ever purchased and it was the beginning of my 20yr journey of the genre. Favorite band no question..
@jennygroom73
As a now 50 year old white lady......i felt the same way listening to Ice-T new jack hustler (ok, might not be the best reference, but i loved it.). You picked a good one for your 20 year journey into the foos. i hope you can respect that after i smoked a joint, i felt the same way. Cause once.....i was a 17 year old coal miners daughter going to school strung out on nirvana. This song was kinda different than what the meth heads around me listened to. i get it.
