The Badman Riddim (Jump) Songfacts reports that Orifice Vulgatron and Dag Nabbit met in Dubai and after making drum and bass for a time they switched to hip hop. DJ Nonames met Metropolis at university in 2000 and the duo joined hip hop and funk band Focused Few and began throwing warehouse parties and touring. Vulgatron was introduced to Nonames through Dj Gizroc, then part of the Mixologists Crew, and by late 2002 the quartet had started performing and recording alongside beatboxer Shlomo. The band released their first album, Asylum Speakers on November 27, 2003. Shlomo subsequently moved on and started doing his own thing with the Beatbox Orchestra and by 2011 Dagnabbit had taken a backseat and was concentrating on the crew's business side.
The crew have released a slew of 12"s and Ep's and really made their mark after independently releasing their critically acclaimed, debut LP 'Asylum Speakers'. Foreign Beggars have collaborated and toured with the cream of UK's Hip Hop movement, with Shlomo appearing on Björk's album Medulla and NoNames having done cuts for Damon Albarn's Gorillaz project. With forthcoming projects with Dj Sparo, Dj Vadim, Dudley Perkins, WildChild (Lootpack), OH NO, Dj IQ, Dj Mentat, Scratch Perverts, and Euphrates, the crew see no boundaries with diversifying their sound.
Foreign Beggars are also renowned for their explosive live performances, which recently saw them tear down Glastonbury, Fabric and Hip Hop Kemp in Hradec Kralove. They have supported Public Enemy, Roots Manuva, Beatnuts, Masta Ace, Grand Master Flash, Talib Kweli, Wu-Tang Clan, Asian Dub Foundation, Last Emperor, Mark Ronson, Ja Rule, Blak Twang, and many more.

Cold Breeze
Foreign Beggars Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Rushing through the stone corridors of these gritty streets
Whistling against the window panes like a spirit speaks
That seeks to ring a change bringing days of peace to
It comes surging with a purpose uncertain
And cuts to the heart with a certain like urgence
The first ones caught by this gust were deserving
That's penetrated straight to the core of their nerve-strings
Tremor as we crumble disbelief with the sweetest song
Endeavouring to humble every damn thing we breathe upon
That's cleverly we tumble through the town till we reach the dawn
And as the sun rises opening it's one iris,
We disappear like a freak storm that sunk pirates
To re-emerge harnessing the force of a hurricane
Bringing forth these words across the seas to your country's plane
Lone wanderer, roaming the seven seas
I walk the distance step on everything that heaven sees
I tread the desert with these weathered feet
The Nepalese shepherd, ever begging in the evergreen
Ethereal dream merchant, sleeping on a rain cloud
Let my spirit dance to the whispers of the fainter sound
Of water trickling from ice stalactites
Like gives me hope like a glimmer in the blackest night
Knife pack a talisman, staff in the holster
Live man a walk, leave a scar on your poster
All hype on the stage but can't attempt it when the show stops
Blood, you get sparked, if you don't rhyme like you're supposed to
Tell me, who's first to burst verse
Vulga spit bullet, you're pulling words from out your purse
Unrehearsed, I dispatch close to your birthplace
Expression on your bird's face, show her how my girth taste
The lyrics to Foreign Beggars's "Cold Breeze" describe a sense of change and upheaval, brought on by a cold wind blowing through the city. The wind serves as a metaphor for a force driving the song's narrative forward, pushing against resistance and exposing hidden truths. The song's lyrics are packed with vivid imagery, from the wind "whistling against the window panes like a spirit speaks" to the singer walking "the distance step on everything that heaven sees." The lyrics also reference other cultures and places, such as the Nepalese shepherd and the rain clouds, adding to the sense of expansiveness and journey that the song evokes.
The song's chorus also speaks to the feeling of being caught in the midst of change, unsure of what's to come. As the wind brings forth "days of peace," the singer acknowledges that change can be painful and uncertain. However, there is a sense of perseverance and determination throughout the song, as the singer and the wind they describe maintain their course through the city and beyond.
Overall, "Cold Breeze" is a powerful and evocative song that captures the feeling of being caught in the midst of change. The lyrics are packed with rich imagery and a strong sense of purpose, making it a compelling listen.
