Cold War
Foreign Figures Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So obsessed with all these goals
Try hard to not to ignore ya
Balanced as we go
On my brain 24 hours a day
The stress and paranoia
Balanced as I know
Between the vain and valuable
I can't take it
I can't take it no more
It's a cold cold war
Ask myself what I want more
Something lifeless or someone to adore
I'm overzealous
I'm so bored
Over worked up to the core
Need a tropical vacation
Not more medication
May our lives be as fabulous as gold
Like the pictures on our socials
Faking what we show
It's a cold cold war
Between the vain and valuable
I can't take it
I can't take it no more
It's a cold cold war
Ask myself what I want more
Something lifeless or someone to adore
I'm overzealous
Overzealous
Overzealous

It's a cold cold war
Between the vain and valuable
I can't take it

It's a cold cold war
Between the vain and valuable
I can't take it
I can't take it no more
It's a cold cold war
Ask myself what I want more

The lyrics to Foreign Figures's song Cold War portray an individual who is struggling to find balance amidst the pressure of striving towards their goals. The opening line "I'm insane, so obsessed with all these goals" sets the tone for the rest of the song as the singer candidly admits to their intense fixation on achieving their objectives. They acknowledge the stress and paranoia that this constant drive has induced, yet also recognize the need to maintain a sense of balance. The singer reflects on the idea of a vs. conflict between the valuable and the vain, acknowledging the internal battle between what they truly desire and what society deems as desirable. Throughout the song, the singer expresses a sense of overzealousness, a sense of being overly ambitious, and almost desperate.
The chorus repeats the phrase "It's a cold cold war" several times, emphasizing the theme of conflict and opposition between two opposing sides, which could be interpreted as the individual's internal struggle between their dreams and societal expectations. The lyrics also highlight the struggle to find authenticity amidst the pressure of presenting a perfect persona on social media. The singer expresses a desire for a more genuine life that isn't tainted by the pressure of fitting societal standards.
Overall, the lyrics of Cold War provide a raw and introspective view of what it's like to navigate the pressure of society and internal ambitions. The song touches on themes of authenticity, balance, and the struggles of achieving one's dreams while also staying grounded.

Huh, a lot of "played at my school" people here, for me it was the second best on stage event that year. (Number 1 being when some of the staff were playing a song together, and the English teacher came out with a sick awesome solo on the electric guitar.)
@teaguedoodoo_
