Foster Sylvers released his first album "Foster Sylvers" in June 1973. His first single, "Misdemeanor," written by his brother Leon Sylvers III, became a hit that summer charting at number seven on Billboard's R&B charts. "Misdemeanor"'s follow-up was a cover of Dee Clark's 1959 hit "Hey Little Girl" charting at number 63 R&B in fall 1973. The popularity of these records led Foster to appear on such TV shows as American Bandstand and Soul Train.
In 1974 he released his second album "Foster Sylvers Featuring Pat & Angie Sylvers". By 1975 he joined the rest of his brothers and sisters in The Sylvers just in time for their Showcase album. He co-sang lead with his brother Edmund on the #1 1976 Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles song Boogie Fever. While with Capitol, Foster released another self titled album called "Foster Sylvers" in early 1978, primarily produced by his family The Sylvers and their managers Al Ross and Bob Cullen. Foster then branched out into studio work just like his big brother Leon, collaborating on many projects such as Dynasty ("Your Piece of the Rock," "When You Feel Like Giving Love," "Satisfied") and Evelyn "Champagne" King ("Shake Down," number 12 R&B, 1984).
By the late 1980's Foster recorded two albums as Foster Sylvers & Hy-Tech, 1987's "Plain & Simple" for EMI America and 1990's "Prime Time" for A&M.

Take it in stride
Love and devotion
Don't confide
It's the tracks of lost emotion
Let it glide
It's gonna subside
She stole my heart
Whatcha gonna do
When I think I'm in love
And I catch my girl doin' me wrong
Too bad
It's just enough
To slip back in the start
Like when you get your first ticket
For illegal parking
But don't you know
It's no big deal
Take it slow
She's not for real
Let it go
Fine you know
Until she stole my heart
She stole his heart
But it's just a misdemeanor
You gotta get-a over it
Oh, he loved her from the start
Love tracks, setbacks
All can come back
Pick up on the fact
Take it in stride
Love and devotion
Don't confide
It's the tracks of lost emotion
Let it glide
It's gonna subside
She stole my heart
Oh, she stole his heart
But it's just a misdemeanor
You gotta get-a over it
Oh, he loved her from the start
Whatcha gonna do
When I get to the goal
And my friends aren't tellin' me
When I'm playin' the fool
Oh, he loved her from the start
You gotta get over it
Love tracks, set backs
All can come back
Oh, she stole his heart
The lyrics of "Misdemeanor" by Foster Sylvers talk about the ups and downs of love and relationships. The song highlights how people are willing to overlook the mistakes and flaws of their partners because of their love and devotion towards them. Sylvers uses the metaphor of "tracks of lost emotion" to convey how the past experiences and emotions can sway one's current relationship. Despite the hurt and turmoil caused by his partner's infidelity, he still loves her and sees her actions as "just a misdemeanor," something minor that can be forgiven. The song encourages moving on from setbacks in love and that all can come back - the good and the bad.
Sylvers' choice of lyrics and metaphors highlights his deep insights into human behavior and relationships. He acknowledges that people are not perfect and can make mistakes, but he believes in the power of love to overcome them. The lyrics also symbolize the complexities of relationships, where forgiveness and understanding are vital for their survival.
