In 1999, Foxy Brown made history as the first female rapper to have a number 1 album with Chyna Doll selling over 173,000 copies in the first week.
In 2005, while in the midst of recording her studio album Black Roses, Brown faced another hardship when she was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss. The hearing impairment took 100% of Brown's hearing, but 20% was restored after an operation to repair it. After her fifth surgery Foxy regained 99.9% of her hearing.
Following a relatively quiet career period which coincided with an eight month jail sentence in 2008, Foxy continued to record the long in-progress Black Roses with a projected release date of late 2010. Ultimately, Black Roses was never released.
In 2018, after years of hiatus, Brown was a featured artist on Nicki Minaj's fourth studio album Queen on the track "Coco Chanel".

Y'all fuckin' crazy?
In the beginning of Foxy Brown's song "Interlude… The Setup," we hear a conversation taking place between a man and a woman. They're at the Shark Bar and they proceed to their table. The woman seems agitated and says she wants to talk about their relationship. She's stressed out and feels it's not going well. The man responds with disbelief and tells her to calm down, but she snaps back at him. She then receives a courtesy call at the front desk, and the man stays behind.
As the woman walks away, the tone of the conversation changes. The man makes a comment about her body and seems to regret what he says as she leaves. A group of people approach him, and they identify themselves as "The Firm." The man seems to know who they are and asks them what they want. They tell him to remember who they are and that he's crazy for not recognizing them. The conversation ends with tension, and it's unclear what will happen next.
The lyrics of "Interlude… The Setup" tell a story of a tense conversation between two partners at a bar. It captures a moment of frustration and anger in a relationship, indicating that things are not going well between them. The man's careless comment leads to a complicated interaction with strangers, adding another layer of tension to the story.
