I said I don′t mind but what do you mean, I am your one?
Go and dance on the floor in the round
She told me her name was Billie Jean
As she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dream
Of being the one
Go and dance on the floor in the round
People always told me "son be careful what you do
You can't go around breaking young girls hearts"
Mama always told me "son be careful who you love
Be careful what you do
Before the lie becomes the truth
Billie Jean was never my lover
She′s just a girl who claims that I am the one
Go and dance on the floor in the round
For forty days and for forty nights
The law was on her side
And who can stand when she's in demand
Her schemes and plans
Go and dance on the floor in the round
She told my baby that we'd danced ′til three
Then she looked at me
Showed a picture and my baby cried
His eyes looked like mine
Go and dance on the floor in the round
People always told me "be careful what you do
You can′t go around breaking young girls hearts"
But she stood right by me and the smell of her perfume
Started to consume as she led me to her room
All I know is Billie Jean was never my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
The song “Billie Jean” by Foy Vance is a cover of one of the most popular tracks of Michael Jackson from his sixth studio album, Thriller which was released in 1983. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a young man who encounters a woman named Billie Jean at a night club. He is queasy about the attention she's showing him, so he retreats to the dance floor to ignore her for a while. After a few moments, he discovers that she shares more than just friendly intentions as she tells him she believes he's "the one" who has gotten her pregnant. The singer adamantly denies her claim and tells her to look elsewhere for help. However, as she stalks him persistently for 40 days, the singer grows increasingly anxious about the situation.
The song is an instillment of modern-day culture that delves into the themes of groupies, fame, false accusations, and the price of celebrity. In the first verse, the singer describes Billie Jean, who is probably a groupie that has been obsessing over the singer. The second verse is an illustration of the singer's response to the accusations, which is to deny and dissociate from it. Finally, the chorus is a culmination of the singer's defense against the allegations by saying there's no way the child is his.
