Frances Forever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
(My car)
How many times have you made me cry and want to die inside, inside my car
(My car)
What if I got in an accident would you have to pay my fucking rent
(Pay my rent)
Can the cops see in my head, can they see that what you said affected my death
(Oo my death)
(Heal the scar)
How many times have you cut a hole inside, inside my heart
(Oo my heart)
I didn't know that you were just the start
You and your clique like tearin' me apart
Limb from limb, head to toe
How many times have I cried inside my car
How many times have you made me cry and want to die inside, inside my car
In "cry inside my car," Frances Forever expresses a deep sense of emotional pain and vulnerability through the recurring motif of crying inside a car. The car becomes a symbolic space of solace and release, a place where the singer retreats to confront their overwhelming emotions. The repetition of the question "How many times have I cried inside my car?" emphasizes the severity of the emotional turmoil that the singer has experienced. It speaks to a recurring pattern of feeling hurt, as if they have become intimately acquainted with their own tears inside the confines of this vehicle.
The lyrics also address the specific pain inflicted by another person, possibly a romantic partner. The line "How many times have you made me cry and want to die inside, inside my car" reveals the devastating impact of their actions on the singer's mental well-being. There is a sense of desperation and hopelessness, as the singer contemplates the possibility of an accident and wonders if their absence would have any consequences for the person who caused their pain. This suggests a longing for some form of accountability or remorse from the person responsible.
The lyrics further explore the lasting damage caused by this person and their social circle, referring to them as a "clique" that tears the singer apart. They have cut a hole inside their heart, leaving a lasting scar. The imagery of being torn limb from limb evokes a sense of violence and aggression, perhaps metaphorically representing the emotional abuse endured. The repetition of the phrase "How many times have I cried inside my car" serves to emphasize the enduring emotional impact of these experiences, highlighting the cycle of pain and suffering that the singer has endured.

So true....I saw a somewhat frumpy Adele when she toured after her first album before anyone knew of her in an auditorium where we all stood and crowded near the stage. Big things are in store for this talent as well.
