Between the release of her debut album My Paper Heart and its follow-up Hundred More Years, Battistelli married Christian band percussionist Matthew Goodwin and gave birth to her first child, Matthew Elijah. According to the Hundred More Years songfacts Battistelli chose to title her sophomore record after the track "Hundred More Years" because the tune's subject matter of a couple falling in love and having their first child mimiced her own life. Hundred More Years was released on March 1, 2011.
Francesca Battistelli is no stranger to the stage. Raised by parents immersed in the arts and Broadway, she developed a love of music, theatre, and performance at a young age. But instead of using these talents for applause and accolades, Francesca prefers to point people to something beyond herself --towards hope in Christ. Her soulful piano-pop sound resembles a blend of her music interests -- jazz, rock, gospel and R&B -- woven beautifully together with themes of trust and risk-taking. In a noisy world filled with sounds and images, we cry out for an authentic voice--one who is not afraid to speak truth and purpose to a generation. In singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli, we have found that voice.

For doing what you're supposed to do
Standing up for what is true
Got your feelings hurt tonight
You must be doing something right
You're so unusual
I think you're beautiful
Gray is now the status quo
Black and white's not in, you know
You're the zebra in the pony show
Your wear your faith just like a light
I'd say you're doing something right
You're so unusual
I think you're beautiful
You're so unusual
Standing up for Jesus' name
Just let them call you strange
I call you brave, unique and set apart
A masterpiece, a work of art
Living out what you believe
Being who you're made to be
I love to see the way that you are so
You're so unusual
I think you're beautiful
You're so unusual
Unusual
I think you're beautiful
You're so unusual
Oh, for heaven's sake
You're unafraid and unashamed
You're so unusual
What's up with all these shades of gray
The difference should be night and day
You're so unusual
Brave, unique and set apart
Masterpiece, a work of art
Living out what you believe
Being who you're made to be
I love to see the way that you are
Unusual
In Francesca Battistelli's song Unusual, the lyrics speak of a person who is unapologetically being themselves and standing up for their beliefs, despite facing ridicule and criticism from others. The opening lines describe how this person is mocked for doing what they are supposed to do, which is standing up for what is true. However, the chorus emphasizes that their uniqueness is what makes them beautiful and special, even in a world where conformity is the norm. The lyrics encourage this person to continue being themselves and to stand up for Jesus’ name, even if that means being called strange.
The second verse talks about how society has normalized the gray area, where there is no clear distinction between right and wrong. But this person is compared to a zebra in a pony show, standing out with their distinctive black and white stripes, just as they stand out with their faith. The song goes on to call them brave, unique, and set apart, emphasizing that they are a masterpiece and a work of art. The lyrics celebrate the way this person lives out their beliefs and encourages others to embrace their uniqueness and individuality.
Overall, the song highlights the value of standing up for what you believe in and being true to yourself, even when it is not popular or easy. It encourages people to embrace their differences and celebrate their uniqueness.

Just ignore and walk away
People laugh at what you do
Ignor them every day

Thank you so much for this song! I just had an extremely hard day, I go to a public school and I'm an open Christian so everyone knows and today I heard some people even people I thought were my good friends talking bad about me saying that I'm weird and annoying because all I ever talk about is Jesus. Made me hurt so bad I cried my eyes out all day because I thought they were my friends, its a good thing I have Jesus or else I'd feel so alone, me and my little brother are the only ones in the school who are open about our Christianity

Christ Is Risen
My sister just told me how last night her room was invaded and filled by the Holy Spirit at 4ish in the morning and how she got out of bed happy and fulfilled and started dancing by herself in the room and when she put this song on she felt Jesus himself was singing it to her... We dont fit in this world we are unusual for we dont belong in here,,, we belong with him wherever he is,and wherever he goes....God bless u
