Trying to spell your name
So I fold it up and I flick it out
Paper aeroplane
It won't fly the seven seas for you
'Cause it didn't leave my room
But it waits the hands of someone else
Garbage man
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
So he opens it up and reads it out
To all his friends
Amongst the crowd a heart will break
And a heart will mend.
He walks at home, tired from work
A letter fall from his hands
He reaches out to catch the sky
But it's gone with the wind.
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I spilled the ink across the page
Trying to spell your name
Up and down, there it goes
Paper aeroplane
It hasn't flown the seven seas for you
But it's on its way
It goes to the hands into someone else
To find you girl
I got to say
(To find you girl)
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
(To find you girl)
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
(To find you girl)
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
(To find you girl)
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say
Hmm, hmm mm
I got to say

The lyrics of Francesco Rossi's song Paper Aeroplane tell the story of a love letter being written and sent out into the world in the form of a paper aeroplane. The singer of the song spills ink on a page while trying to spell the name of their love interest, and instead of throwing it away, they fold it up and flick it out the window. The paper aeroplane represents the writer's hopes and dreams for the relationship, even though it may never reach its intended recipient.
The song progresses to the garbage man picking up the paper aeroplane, who reads it out to his friends. This act sets off a chain of events that leads to someone's heart breaking and someone's heart mending. The final lines of the song show the paper aeroplane still on its journey, potentially on the way to finding the girl for which it was intended. The lyrics are evocative and paint a picture of love, longing, and the tiny ways we communicate our feelings to each other.
On a lighter note, the song's background music, featuring acoustic guitar and electronic beats, creates a dreamy, relaxing atmosphere that complements the soft, wistful lyrics. Together, they make Paper Aeroplane a memorable and touching song that speaks to our shared human experiences.
