In For The Kill
Francis Preve & Wolfgang Gartner - Yin vs. La Roux Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We can fight our desires (ooh)
But when we start making fires
We get ever so hot (ooh)
Whether we like it or not
They say we can love who we trust (ooh)
But what is love without lust?
Two hearts with accurate devotions (ooh)
What are feelings without emotions?

I'm going in for the kill
I'm doing it for a thrill
Oh, I'm hoping you'll understand
And not let go of my hand
I'm going in for the kill
I'm doing it for a thrill
Oh, I'm hoping you'll understand
And not let go of my hand

I hang my hopes out on the line (ooh)
Will they be ready for you in time?
If you leave them out too long (ooh)
They'll be withered by the sun
Full stops and exclamation marks (ah) (ooh)
My words stumble before I start
How far can you send emotions? (Ooh)
Can this bridge cross the ocean?

I'm going in for the kill
I'm doing it for a thrill
Oh, I'm hoping you'll understand
And not let go of my hand
I'm going in for the kill
I'm doing it for a thrill
Oh, I'm hoping you'll understand
And not let go of my hand

Let's go to war to make peace
Let's be cold to create heat
I hope in darkness we can see
And you're not blinded by the light from me

Ooh

I'm going in for the kill
I'm doing it for a thrill

Oh, I'm hoping you'll understand
And not let go of my hand

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "In for the Kill" by La Roux and remixed by Francis Preve & Wolfgang Gartner discusses various themes related to love, lust, and desire. The song begins by acknowledging the struggle to resist such feelings, with the line "We can fight our desires." However, when things start heating up, they become impossible to ignore. The lyrics also arrive at the conclusion that love without lust is meaningless, and that deep and genuine feelings can only be felt when emotions come into play.

The chorus of the song repeats twice, with the singer metaphorically comparing her hunt for love and pleasure to going in for the kill. While the phrase "I'm doing it for a thrill" could be interpreted as being cold and selfish, it is evident from the lyrics that the singer is truly hoping that her desires are reciprocated and that they will not let go of her hand.

The third verse seems to showcase a plea for understanding, with the singer likening her situation to hanging her hopes out on the line. She admits that her words may stumble, but the emotions that she feels cannot be underestimated. The final part of the song, where the lyrics "Let's go to war to make peace, let's be cold to create heat" are repeated, emphasizes the importance of balancing opposites in love and relationships.

@ItsJd1232

IT FLOWS!!! IT FLOWS!!! Love the drop and so do the 200 people that weekly have this as an anthem!

@raphailkalpakidis3900

Still a fucking banger. Would play it in every set.

@kagenooni

So what you're saying is add a whole extra bar of mixing to the phrase so it sounds even more fucked up. BRILLIANT! Why didnt I think of that. I use this track all the time in sets, but the thing that tons of people dont get is that if you mix in with the 1 minute left into the main breakdown (2nd one) the track drops out 2 seconds late, so if you cut, it sounds rough. I was meerly pointing this out, everyone says I'm a tard that I dont know shit about DJing apparently.

@paperjawa

Dave Spoon, Wolfgang Gartner, and La Roux are already well popular. Spoon and Gartner are electro house and I'm guessing you heard a Tiesto mix once and you're a badass now?

@GTBMuckface

all i know is when i put this version of this track on, my ears tell my brain they like what they are hearing, more so than when I play the supposed ''real'' version. So I don't care what genre its in, who its by, the quality or any of that bullshit. Listen to the music man, it never steers you wrong.

Also I forgot to say how good this song is :) - First heard funkagenda drop it, great bootleg but I think I prefer the original yin track in a good set.

@TheLemur47

agreed. he came out of nowhere and has been consistently wrecking shit

@andrewhiggz

i do spin at raves and am also a producer you can mix in at any bar or (32 beats) if you know what your doing the art of mixing music is the touch that the dj puts on it. i agree it probably isnt the smartest place to start the mix but if you know what your doing and are goon enough you can make it sound good. :)
