His first success was for the musical score for the 1970 Italian Spaghetti Western comedy film directed by Enzo Barboni and starring Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. He had previously collaborated on composing with Roberto Pregadio the famous whistled western score for the 1969 film The Forgotten Pistolero (original: Il Pistolero dell'Ave Maria). His main theme for the 1976 poliziottesco film A Special Cop in Action was used in the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof.
His other scores include The Last Snows of Spring, Beyond the Door and The Last Hunter. He often worked with Umberto Lenzi, scoring his movies Syndicate Sadists, Rome Armed to the Teeth, Violent Naples, The Cynic, the Rat and the Fist, Brothers Till We Die,The Greatest Battle, From Corleone to Brooklyn, Black Demons and Mean Tricks.
In 1984 he founded the group "The Micalizzi Family" with his sons Cristiano and Alessandro.
His piece "The Puzzle" appears in the soundtrack of Curb Your Enthusiasm and a slow tempo excerpt of it, re-arranged for clarinet and bassoon, is often used in the series as the "stare" theme.

With the restless gun
Don't you bother to fool him around
Keeps the varmints on the run, boy
Keeps the varmints on the run
You may think he's a sleepy-type guy
Always takes his time
When you've seen him use a gun, boy
When you've seen him use a gun
He's the top of the west
Always cool, he's the best
He keeps alive with his Colt 45
You won't bother to fool him around
When you've seen him use a gun, boy
When you've seen him use a gun
He's the top of the west
Always cool, he's the best
He keeps alive with his Colt 45
Who's the guy who's riding to town
In the prairie sun
You won't bother to fool him around
When you've seen him use a gun, boy
When you've seen him use his gun
The lyrics of Franco Micalizzi's "Trinity" describes a man who is famous in the town for his skill in handling a gun. The song talks about this character named Trinity as someone who is always calm and collected, despite being surrounded by danger in a wild west town. The first stanza of the song introduces the character's reputation as being the talk of the town and someone who doesn't take kindly to being fooled around. It highlights his role in keeping the varmints on the run, which implies that he keeps the troublemakers in check.
The second stanza begins with an ironic note about the sleepy-type guy Trinity is perceived to be. It's a warning to not be deceived by his appearance because when he uses his gun, he's lethal. The chorus repeats the assertion that Trinity is the top of the west, cool and the best. He's known for his skill in handling his Colt 45, which keeps him alive. The song concludes with a rhetorical question, asking who this guy is that's riding into town in the prairie sun. We're reminded once again that when you've seen him use his gun, you won't dare try to fool him.

So many people write Django here, but I am a proud fan of the original movie and the immortal couple of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. And the highly chilling arrival of Terence Hill in the opening scene with this main theme playing is legendary.
