Biography
Known for their party-driven, tongue-in-cheek raps, the duo first came to public attention as guests on producer J Dilla's album, Welcome 2 Detroit, in 2001. Prior to this, they had been performing in their hometown, Detroit, since the mid-1990s and had released the 12"s "Everybody Get Up!" and "Me And My Man" b/w "Love (A Thing Of The Past)", both produced by J Dilla.
The group signed a recording deal with MCA Records, but their 2003 album, 48 Hours, was at first rejected by the label, reworked with new production and resubmitted by the group, and finally shelved by the label altogether. Bootlegs of the reworked version eventually surfaced on the underground. The album was entirely produced by J Dilla, who uses very few samples throughout the album, instead choosing to concoct synth-driven beats for the MCs to rhyme over. It is believed that the original version of 48 Hours was more sample based, and that this may have been a factor in it being rejected by MCA, due to sample clearances.[citation needed]
Frank-N-Dank released their follow up album, Xtended Play Version 3.13, in 2006. The album contained production by J Dilla (who passed away before its release), and other Detroit producers such as Black Milk. The song "MCA" details their uphill climb in the music industry. Frank-N-Dank also appeared on DJ Cam's iTunes exclusive song "Smokesum."

Could've been in blue or the red like it's crayon or sell a little crack to the fiends for their séance
I chose the game cause this motherfucka pays off
Fuck a boss no such thing in getting laid off
A nice guy don't let me tee off
And this jam will make you def like your lyor
And this black clothing shining like it's dior
Top to the bottom, if you own em then I got em
Gotta teach a homie something on the real imma problem
I can hear my shit banging from LA to Rhode Island to asylums mouths don't get fed when you silent
You know I get deals finalized like Italians
Don't matter what's phatter is a gold plate medallion that I dreamed about but this amount I'm in n out
Shit it's all business if it's not

The lyrics to Frank-N-Dank's song "Worldwide" convey a sense of unity and ambition, as the artists proclaim their intention to transcend geographical boundaries and make their mark on a global scale. The repeated refrain of "EastSide cmon, Westside cmon, Southside cmon, Northside cmon" signifies a call for people from all parts of the world to come together and support their movement. They reject the negativity and petty conflicts ("Fuck the bullshit") that may hinder their progress and instead focus on expanding their reach.
The mention of the Garden of Eden and the reference to the applebum (a colloquial term for a woman's attractive bottom) suggests a desire for something desirable and alluring. The artists' upbringing is mentioned, with their mother teaching them about the importance of education and spirituality ("Take a textbook with the Bible for my lexicon"). They express a yearning for a higher social status ("want different echelon") and acknowledge the temptation of engaging in illegal activities ("sell a little crack to the fiends"), but ultimately choose the music industry as a means of achieving success and financial stability ("chose the game cause this motherfucka pays off").
The lyrics also touch on themes of self-reliance and perseverance. They reject the idea of working for someone else ("Fuck a boss") and embrace their own path to success. The mention of being a "nice guy" refers to the common perception that kind individuals may struggle to succeed in cutthroat industries. They assert their confidence and assertiveness, highlighting their ability to make an impact and be heard ("this jam will make you def like your lyor"). The lyrics emphasize the importance of taking action and speaking up, as remaining silent or passive will not lead to progress ("mouths don't get fed when you silent").
