The band first experienced chart success when their second single "Take Me Out" reached #3 in the UK Charts, followed by their debut album Franz Ferdinand which entered the UK album chart at #3. The band went on to win the 2004 Mercury Music Prize and two BRIT Awards in 2005 for Best British Group and Best British Rock Act. NME named Franz Ferdinand as their Album of the Year. From the album, three top-ten singles were released, "Take Me Out", "The Dark of the Matinée" and "This Fire". The band has also received several Grammy Award nominations.
The band is named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria whose assassination was one of the main reasons for the start of the First World War. The band decided on the name after seeing a racehorse named Archduke Ferdinand win the Northumberland Plate in 2001, eventually coming to the decision as the alliteration and sound of the name appealed to them.

And now I know now I know now I know that it's you
Lucky lucky you're so lucky
Well do ya? do ya do ya want to?
Well do ya? do ya do ya want to?
Well do ya? do ya do ya want to?
Well do ya? do ya do ya want to?
Want to go where I've never let you before?
Well he's a friend and we're so proud of you
He's a friend and I knew him before you
Oh yeah
Well he's a friend and we're so proud of you
He's a friend and I knew him before you
Your famous friend and I blew him before you

Want to go where I've never let you before?

And now I know now I know now I know that it's you
Lucky lucky, you're so lucky
Well do ya? do ya do ya want to?

Want to go where I've never let you before?
Lucky lucky, you're so lucky [Repeat: x6]
Yeah
The lyrics of Franz Ferdinand's song Do You Want To (Erol Alkan Rem) describe the desperation of the singer to find someone who loves him. The lyrics convey a sense of urgency and a desire for something new and exciting. The lyrics are catchy and the chorus is an invitation for the listener to join the singer on an adventure, to go where they have never been before.
The singer seems to be addressing someone specific, which is implied by the lyrics "now I know now I know now I know that it's you". It's not clear whether the singer is addressing a platonic friend, a romantic interest or an imagined person. The lyrics "Well he's a friend and we're so proud of you / Your famous friend and I blew him before you" imply a certain level of sexual tension and suggest a love triangle. This ambiguity adds to the overall mysteriousness of the song.
The lyrics also mention a "transmission party" and "arty friends", which suggest a bohemian lifestyle and a free-spirited attitude. This is a common theme in Franz Ferdinand's music, which often celebrates youth culture and rebellion.
