The band first experienced chart success when their second single "Take Me Out" reached #3 in the UK Charts, followed by their debut album Franz Ferdinand which entered the UK album chart at #3. The band went on to win the 2004 Mercury Music Prize and two BRIT Awards in 2005 for Best British Group and Best British Rock Act. NME named Franz Ferdinand as their Album of the Year. From the album, three top-ten singles were released, "Take Me Out", "The Dark of the Matinée" and "This Fire". The band has also received several Grammy Award nominations.
The band is named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria whose assassination was one of the main reasons for the start of the First World War. The band decided on the name after seeing a racehorse named Archduke Ferdinand win the Northumberland Plate in 2001, eventually coming to the decision as the alliteration and sound of the name appealed to them.

Fabulously Lazy

Somewhere else, nowhere else before
The girl in the spotlight evermore
Like no one before, forever more
Bloody Marys, two for tea
Bubble bath and TV
All the boys from Rock n' Roll
Sometimes she likes soul
No one sees her lift a finger
What a singer, what a dancer
What a sinner
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
All my work, for what it's worth
Won't do me none
Can make you feel so right
All those wins are a loss
Can't be a winner if she's never lost
Her success is divine
What a word for mine
Daytime is a tragedy
But now it smells like victory
Who does she think she is?
What a singer, what a dancer
What a sinner
She leaves the world in envy
All is now, no maybe
No one's left untouched
She's so fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
Fabulously lazy
The song “15 Fabulously Lazy” by Franz Ferdinand is about a girl who is unlike anyone the singer has seen before. She is always in the spotlight, but does not seem to do any work at all. The singer describes her routine of drinking Bloody Marys, taking bubble baths, and watching TV, while all the boys from rock and roll come to see her. Sometimes she even listens to soul music, but overall she does not seem to be bothered by much. The singer envies her ability to be fabulously lazy and successful at the same time.
The phrase “no one sees her lift a finger” reflects the girl’s effortless ability to attract attention and succeed without trying. The singer seems to admire her carefree lifestyle and the way she can be fabulously lazy while everyone else is working hard to make it in the music industry. The use of the words “sinner” and “divine” suggest that the girl’s laziness is like a divine gift that she uses to her advantage. At the same time, the singer also questions who this girl thinks she is, but ultimately he envies her success and her ability to be fabulously lazy.
Overall, the song “15 Fabulously Lazy” by Franz Ferdinand is an ode to the girl who is able to be successful and lazy at the same time. The singer seems to admire her carefree lifestyle and her ability to succeed while not lifting a finger. The use of the words like “sinner” and “divine” imply that the girl harnesses her laziness as a strength to be envied, rather than something to be ashamed of.
