Feel the Love Go
Franz Ferdinand Lyrics

Hey, what's that thing that you're doing?
Hey, what's that thing that you do?
No, you're not that thing that you're doing
For the things that you do are not who you are

Why don't you come over here?
Why don't you come over here?
Why don't you come over here?
Why don't you come over?

Think of a friend (love)
And wish them love
Think of an enemy (more)
And wish them more

See, see the things that you're doing
See, oh see the things that you do
See the things that you do are not who you are

Why don't you come over here?
Why don't you come over here?
Why don't you come over here?
Why don't you come over?

Think of a friend (love)
And wish them love
Think of an enemy (more)
And wish them more
Think of an enemy (love)
Like them, wish them all your love

Then feel the love return
Feel the love infinity
Feel the love infinity
Then let it go

Let the love go
Oh, let the love go
Oh, let the love go
Oh, let the love go

Feel the love go
Feel the love go
Feel the love then go
Feel the love then go

Feel the love go (love go)
Feel the love go (the love go)
Feel the love go (go-o)
Feel the love go (love go)

Love go, yeah feel the love go
Yeah feel the love go, go
Yeah feel the love go, oh

Yeah feel the love go, go
Yeah feel the love go, go, oh oh oh oh oh

Overall Meaning

In "Feel the Love Go" by Franz Ferdinand, the lyrics emphasize the distinction between one's actions and their true identity. The first verse questions someone about their behavior, suggesting that it does not define who they really are. It implies that actions can often be misleading or superficial, and that there is more to a person than what they do.

The next set of lyrics further emphasizes this separation between actions and identity. The repetition of the line "Why don't you come over here?" may indicate a desire for deeper connection or understanding. It encourages the listener to consider their relationships and urges them to reflect on how they feel about both friends and enemies.

The following verse encourages the listener to see beyond their actions and to recognize that their actions do not define their true essence. It points out that what a person does is not necessarily a reflection of who they are. This can be interpreted as a reminder to not judge others solely based on their behavior, as it may not be an accurate representation of their character.

The chorus combines the themes of love and letting go. It advises the listener to think of both friends and enemies, and to wish them love and more love, respectively. This suggests that love has the power to transform relationships and let go of negativity. It encourages the listener to let love flow freely, to both give and receive it, and to ultimately release it.

In the final repetition of the chorus, the phrase "Let the love go" is emphasized, suggesting that holding on too tightly to love can be inhibiting. It encourages the listener to release their love, to let it flow away. This could be seen as a metaphor for embracing change and accepting that love can evolve and shift.

Overall, "Feel the Love Go" invites listeners to look beyond their actions and those of others, to recognize the complexity of human identity, and to embrace the power of love both in their relationships and in letting go. It encourages a deeper understanding of others and the importance of love and its transformative qualities.

Let me tell you guys. Growing up in an Assembly of God church in the south, what he's doing in this video is absolutely not far from the truth. It wasn't a church service if people weren't getting shoved to the ground. It was bananas. I remember being a kid and being terrified of the preacher even looking at me.

My very limited understanding of this video, especially being familiar with what he's doing, leads me to believe it's a satire on Christianity and evangelists. I'm sure that seems obvious.
- In the beginning of the video, he can't even stand up straight with whatever drugs he's on (assuming that's what it is) and has to be carried to the chair. Then he goes on an altar and "blesses" his congregation.
- Then you see him "walking on water" and someone washing his feet, like he himself is a god because he's really just a narcissist taking advantage of people who are putting all of their faith into him.
- At the end, you see everyone walking around in a weird conga line with sunglasses on. I'm probably wrong, but it seemed to show them as being "blind" to the truth.
- Then, you see the white dove, which is clearly fake. In Christianity, the white dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit, among other things. Because the dove is fake (or dead and stuffed) in the video, it would make sense that it's symbolizing how "fake"/disingenuous he is (i.e. the dove represents him). Something along those lines.

John Oliver did a great piece on Televangelists that explains this kind of thinking in more detail; really, how a lot of evangelists are just taking advantage of their congregation by abusing the offerings and manipulating them for more money etc.

VERRRY loose interpretation as I don't fully understand what's going on, but that's what jumps out at me. Alex has such a great way of coming off as a controlling, manipulative person in this video, I love it - especially at the end as he's strutting towards the camera. Because that's what he is in this video: controlling and manipulative. The whole video is genius and the song is absolutely amazing.

This is truly an ascending message.

"For the things that you do are not who you are

And wish them love
Think of an enemy
And wish them more
Think of every life and wish them all your love"

what a great tune ! i had the pleasure of meeting Alex and the band last year when i was working in catering at a festival they did. I had a chat with Alex and he was down to earth and seemed a really nice guy. I mentioned i was going to finish work and come and see his set and said i was trying to get my daughter in to watch it with me, he straight away offered to sort her out a pass and true to his word he got his tour manager to come across with a pass and my 16 yr old daughter and i got to have a special dad and daughter experience listening to a great set from a band that i had made her grow up listening to in her baby seat in the back of my car. Awesome new tune from a set of guys who appreciate the fans they have.

@amandam.2416

Jo Larnach they're really nice guys. I had the pleasure of meeting Alex and Nick during the 2014 tour and they're exactly as you described. Nick also gave tickets to some fans who were at the hotel door but couldn't buy it at the time. Franz Ferdinand is a band that deserves all the success in the world

@isaacthomas6544

I have friends who are sort of groupies and can definitely attest to the fact that the band is super kind and loves their fans! One of the very best :)
