The band first experienced chart success when their second single "Take Me Out" reached #3 in the UK Charts, followed by their debut album Franz Ferdinand which entered the UK album chart at #3. The band went on to win the 2004 Mercury Music Prize and two BRIT Awards in 2005 for Best British Group and Best British Rock Act. NME named Franz Ferdinand as their Album of the Year. From the album, three top-ten singles were released, "Take Me Out", "The Dark of the Matinée" and "This Fire". The band has also received several Grammy Award nominations.
The band is named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria whose assassination was one of the main reasons for the start of the First World War. The band decided on the name after seeing a racehorse named Archduke Ferdinand win the Northumberland Plate in 2001, eventually coming to the decision as the alliteration and sound of the name appealed to them.

Sexy boy
Sexy boy
Sexy boy
Apollon 2000 zéro défaut vingt et un an
C'est l'homme idéal charme au masculin
Sexy boy
Sexy boy
The lyrics to Franz Ferdinand's song "Sexy Boy" reflect on society's obsession with male beauty standards and the pressure to conform to them. The song questions the whereabouts of the "heroes with athlete's bodies" and "idols with a rugged look but well-dressed," suggesting that these images are becoming harder to find in reality. Instead, we are presented with the idea of a "sexy boy," defined as someone with the physical perfection of an "Apollo 2000" and the charm of a masculine ideal.
The lyrics also suggest a feeling of inadequacy and longing for that level of physical perfection. The line "Me too, one day I will be as beautiful as a god" demonstrates a desire to fit in with society's perception of beauty. The imagery of "dollars in their eyes" and "diamonds in their smiles" suggest a shallow and materialistic culture that values appearance above all else.
Overall, the lyrics of "Sexy Boy" critique society's fixation on physical perfection and highlight the pressure to conform to a certain standard of beauty, highlighting the negative consequences of this obsession on individual self-esteem and social values.
