Freak Kitchen's style of music is influenced by many genres besides the traditional heavy metal, ranging from jazz to pop. The band described their third album as "A corny little heavy-pop-rock-latin-world-jazz-avant-garde-metal-blues-record".
Lyrics contain heavy criticism against capitalist society, conformity, racism and the attitude of huge record companies.
Frontman Mattias IA Eklundh is widely known as a guitarist of high technical ability, and live shows often contain parts where Eklundh plays the guitar using several foreign objects such as a vibrating dildo. Eklundh has also released three solo albums, Sensually Primitive (1997) (under the pseudonym Mr. Libido), Freak Guitar (1999) and The Road Less Traveled (2004).

Blind
Freak Kitchen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you live your life with blind-folded eyes
You're so scared that you can't relate
To the world outside, and your fear leads to hate
Hate
It's so cushy to kick back
And take the easy way out
I say you're blind
Blind
You've invented a world of your own
Where your narrow mind lives all alone
Buy more guns, call it patriotism
Your ignorance turns into racism
Racism
Its so cushy to kick back
And take the easy way out
You think you're God's gift to mankind I say your blind
Blind
The lyrics to Freak Kitchen's song Blind are an indictment of closed-mindedness and willful ignorance. The first verse describes how it's easy to criticize others when you don't have to confront the reality of the situations they are facing. It's easy to judge and hate when you are too scared to try to understand the world outside of your own experience. The chorus reinforces the idea that this closed-mindedness is a form of blindness, and that it's easy to opt out of complicated issues and take the easy way out.
The second verse describes how people who live in a narrow-minded world view can become so myopic that they develop their own, "invented" reality. They justify their ideas with positive-sounding words like "patriotism," but their underlying beliefs are rooted in racism and ignorance. Once again, the chorus reinforces the central idea that these people are blind to the truth and that they are living in a way that is closed off from the larger world.
