Destiny
Fredrika Stahl Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
As a god planning in advance?
Or do you believe in your own power
And hope for a bit of chance?
Do you think some people
Are born to succeed, others cursed to fail?
Or would you rather believe
That you are the writer of your tale?
Choosing were to stop and which path to go?
In that case I want you to grab my hand
And we will no longer have to walk
I promise we will flow
Do you think confrontations pop up
Like a test for you to pass?
Or do you see them as things to avoid
And stick to the green grass?
Do you think beauty
Is a reflection from within?
Or are there just some lucky bastards
That can eat and still be thin?
Are we hitchhikers on an endless road
Choosing were to stop and which path to go?
In that case I want you to grab my hand
And we will no longer have to walk
I promise we will flow
Do you think some folks are meant for each other
Like there's a single true match?
Or are you just someone that passed my way
And that I was lucky enough to catch?
In Fredrika Stahl's song Destiny, the lyrics are thought-provoking and suggest several philosophical and existential questions. The song concerns the concept of destiny, and the idea of whether we are controlled by it or choose our paths. Stahl poses questions to the listener, such as whether they believe in destiny or whether they think some people are destined to succeed while others are doomed to fail. She also wonders whether life's challenges and obstacles are sent to test us, or whether it's better to avoid them and stay in the green grass. Additionally, Stahl addresses the idea of fate in relationships, asking whether some people are predestined to be together while others simply pass by.
In the chorus, Stahl extrapolates her thoughts on destiny as a journey. She asks whether we are "hitchhikers on an endless road" and must choose our stops and paths, or if destiny has already predetermined our futures. Her solution to this uncertainty is to ask the listener to take her hand so they can flow together.
Overall, the lyrics are open-ended and allow the listener to reflect on whether they believe in destiny or whether we are the authors of our lives.
