The sight of a blind man changed the life of Rob Wilson forever. Standing in a busy street by himself, Wilson quietly pulled the blind man out of harms way. Later on that same day, the same blind man was found sleeping by Wilson, sleeping on the front steps to his house. At the time, Rob Wilson was waist-deep into illicit crime and substance abuse. The question many people ask is how did the blind man find him? As for the answer to the question, there isn't one. One thing Rob did know was that this was a sign from God, showing him that he was walking blind through life and headed for disaster.
The rest is history.
Fast-forward over a decade now and you will find Rob Wilson better known now as "Fresh I.E." (Fresh In Eternity). Since transforming his life and discovering his purpose through hip-hop, Wilson has achieved musical accolades and approval far beyond his wildest dreams. In 2003 he became the first ever Canadian hip-hop artist nominated for a Grammy Award (Red Letterz) and followed that up in 2005 with a subsequent Grammy-nod (Truth Is Fallin In Tha Streetz). His music has also found mainstream favour and success with his singles finding heavy rotation on Q-94 FM in Winnipeg, not to mention charting as high as number 2 on the Christian Hit Radio Charts (CHR).
With all of the recognition and awards you might say Rob "Fresh I.E." Wilson's career has reached a pinnacle...
Wrong.
This is only the beginning. Back in 2000, Wilson had a vision of a center with four doors pointing North, South, East and West. A place to help kids get off the streets, teaching them in the arts of music, drama and The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I Have A Dream

When I want you in my arms, when I want you and all your charms
Whenever I want you, all I have to do, is
Dream, dream dream dream
When I feel blue in the night, and I need you to hold me tight
I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine, any time, night or day
Only trouble is, gee wiz, I'm dreamin' my life away
I need you so that I could die, I love you so, and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do, is
Dream, dream dream dream, dream
I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine, any time, night or day
Only trouble is, gee wiz, I'm dreamin' my life away
I need you so that I could die, I love you so, and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do, is
Dream, dream dream dream (repeats out)
Fresh I.E.'s "I Have A Dream" is a nostalgic song that is built up around the concept of dreaming. The song opens with the repetition of a simple phrase "dream, dream dream dream". This repetition signifies the importance of dreams in our lives, our hopes, aspirations, and the power we have to visualize our lives. As the song progresses, Fresh I.E. brings in the need for a loved one with lines such as "When I want you in my arms, when I want you and all your charms". The role of the loved one is to comfort the singer when he is low, as seen in the line "When I feel blue in the night, and I need you to hold me tight". The use of the phrase "all I have to do, is dream" shows that dreaming is a way out for the singer, it gives him an escape from the reality of feeling blue.
The singer reveals his deepest love and admiration for the person he longs to be with. The line "I need you so that I could die, I love you so, and that is why" is being sung with such a deep feeling that it emphasizes the importance of the loved one in the singer's life. The song is built on deeply nostalgic themes, with lines such as "Only trouble is, gee wiz, I'm dreamin' my life away". It seems like the singer is living more in his dreams than in reality.
In summary, the song is about the power of visualization and dreaming, but it also touches on the strong pull of loved ones in our lives. The song emphasizes our capacity to dream and imagine a better life when things get tough. It also stresses the importance of loved ones in providing us with support and a sense of purpose.
