Dancing Queen

You can jive
Having the time of your life
See that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
Friday night and the lights are low
Where they play the right music
Getting in the swing
You come to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music
Everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
See that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave 'em burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another
Anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
See that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
In "Dancing Queen," Frida sings about the joy and freedom that comes with dancing. The opening lines, "You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life," convey the idea that dancing is a way to let loose and fully enjoy oneself. It's about embracing the moment and experiencing pure happiness. The mention of the "dancing queen" represents the person who is fully immersed in the dance floor, radiating confidence and joy.
The song sets the scene on a Friday night with dim lights, the anticipation of finding the perfect place to go where the right music is played. This creates a sense of excitement and adventure. The reference to looking for a king implies the desire to find someone special to dance with, but also suggests that anyone could be that person. It emphasizes the open-mindedness and inclusivity of the dancefloor.
The lyrics continue by describing the magic of rock music and how it enhances the atmosphere, making everything feel perfect. The line, "You're in the mood for a dance, and when you get the chance," emphasizes the eagerness and anticipation to let loose and dance freely. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that the person is the embodiment of the dancing queen, young, sweet, and vibrant at just seventeen years old.
The second verse highlights the seductive and captivating nature of the dancing queen. She has the power to attract others, but also has a mysterious allure, as she moves from one person to another. The mention of always looking for another person who will do indicates a sense of independence and the ability to enjoy the dance without depending on one particular partner.
Overall, "Dancing Queen" is a celebration of the joy and liberation that comes with dancing. It encourages listeners to embrace their inner dancing queen, to let go of inhibitions, and to enjoy the music and the moment. The song captures the vibrant energy and excitement of being on the dancefloor, where everyone can join in and become the dancing queen themselves.

I love how the ensemble make way for her. It's not just choreography, it's genuine deference, like "wow - are we even worthy?"
Also, I'm no royalist but her bow to the aristo is supreme subtlety and grace.

People seem unable to understand this video was recorded LIVE on-stage and no 'tricks' were
involved in the vocals other than the fact that many professional vocalists really can 'mimic' the sound of instruments...at least with regard to the limits of human anatomy.
