Friends Lyrics

And you’ve lost your bitter ways
You’re on your own
And you’re feeling you’re estranged
With an unfamiliar face
You’re on your own
All the lonely souls they hide
All the lonely souls they hide
All the lonely souls they hide
All the lonely souls they hide
They're vagabonds
Now your lonely days are over
All your lonely days are over
Oh, no
Oh, no
And all those street light kids will show ya
All your street light supernovas
Oh
Can you hear it?
The sound
A silence over a heartbreak town
Although
We never sleep
Cause in a way
This town
Is a wrecking ball not for breaking ground
So go
Roll your windows down
All the lonely souls they hide
All the lonely souls they hide
They're vagabonds
And you just say the word
It’s you and I against the world
And we’re on our own
But you’re not alone
Now your lonely days are over
All your lonely days are over
Oh, no
Oh, no
And all those street light kids will show ya
All your street light supernovas
Oh
Now your lonely days are over
All your lonely days are over
You're on your own
And all those street light kids will show ya
All your street light supernovas
Oh
The lyrics of "Streetlights" by Friends delve into themes of loneliness, self-discovery, and finding a sense of belonging amidst a backdrop of alienation and uncertainty. The opening lines "Break loose from your restraints, And you’ve lost your bitter ways" suggest a liberation from past constraints and negative emotions. The singer seems to have embarked on a journey of self-realization, feeling isolated yet ready to embrace the unknown with a newfound sense of self.
The repeated phrases "All the lonely souls they hide, They're vagabonds" paint a picture of individuals who feel disconnected from society and themselves, wandering aimlessly in search of connection and understanding. The mention of "street light kids" and "street light supernovas" could symbolize a group of individuals who find solace and illumination in the urban landscape, perhaps hinting at a community formed out of shared experiences of loneliness and resilience.
The chorus reflects a shift in perspective, as the lyrics declare "Now your lonely days are over, All your lonely days are over" and "And all those street light kids will show ya, All your street light supernovas." This suggests a turning point for the singer, where they no longer feel isolated and alone, but rather supported and guided by a newfound sense of camaraderie and shared experiences. The notion of a collective identity emerges, emphasizing the power of solidarity in overcoming challenges.
The closing lines bring a sense of closure and empowerment, with the singer acknowledging their individuality and newfound strength: "Now your lonely days are over, All your lonely days are over, You're on your own, And all those street light kids will show ya, All your street light supernovas." Ultimately, the lyrics of "Streetlights" by Friends convey a message of resilience, growth, and the transformative power of community in navigating the complexities of life and finding comfort in shared experiences.
