After four years using music as a cheap therapist both Daniel and Joakim had come to the point in their lives when it is time for a fresh start. This clearly shows on the band's third album ”For New Beginnings.”
The lyrics no longer consists solely of broken hearts. Instead there's stories of happiness, sorrow and hope. You'll get some soul searching in "If I Die Now," a bit of nostalgia in the childhood portray "Manwhore", and some apathy in "Hibiskus Park".
There's also some changes in the music. You still get the drastic leaps between genres and the bands typical instrumentation with everything from mandolin, ukulele and glockenspiel to accordion, clarinet and saw. But you can clearly sense a new direction, away from euphoric choruses towards depth and seriousness.
Oh No
Friska Viljor Lyrics

It was Christmas to be, we had cried until three yesterday
she had asked me that thing i didn't want to hear
Can you bring love to me, and it rang in my ear i was gone
I loved her it's true from the start
But that love has slipped out of my heart
And it was Christmas my god what a thing
Oh no
She said for how long have your feelings be gone
I said for a year and this is what i feared all along
A star shined so bright in our window that night
But it melted our hearts and it drove us apart she was lost
I loved her it's true from the start
But that love has slipped out of my heart
And it was Christmas my god what a thing
That this was the present to bring
Oh no
The lyrics of Friska Viljor's song Oh No tell a story of a relationship that has fallen out of love. The song starts with the singer waking up and telling their partner to stay away. It's revealed that the day before, the couple had cried until three in the morning because the singer's partner asked for something they didn't want to hear - a request for love. The singer was then "gone," implying that they left the relationship.
The chorus then reveals that the singer did, in fact, love their partner from the start but that love has "slipped out of [their] heart." The twist in the story comes when the song reveals that it was Christmas day when everything fell apart. The singer notes that the breakup was the worst present they could have received. During the breakup, a star shined in their window, but instead of being a symbol of hope or love, it "melted [their] hearts" and drove them apart for good.
