2) Frozen Ghost is Barry Wynn, a South African psytrance producer who has been releasing music since 2004.
3) Psychedelic guitar heavy rock from Swiss musician Helmut Müller who released the album Nature Of Magic on Black Rills records in 1979.
1.) Frozen Ghost was a Canadian rock band that formed in 1985 by Arnold Lanni and Wolf Hassel, who were previously with the band Sheriff. "Should I See", an anti-censorship song, became a minor hit in the United States, reaching 69th position on Billboard's Hot 100 singles in 1987. The video for that song was nominated for Best Video of the Year at the 1987 Juno Awards, but lost to Glass Tiger's "Someday".
On their final album, "Shake Your Spirit" there were two official additions to the band. John Bouvette, who was on drums and percussion, and Phil X who did some vocals, and played the guitar. Phil X was also credited on the album "Nice Place To Visit" for being a guitarist, but was not considered an official band member until the final album was released.
Frozen Ghost disbanded in 1993.
2.) Frozen Ghost is one of the new breed of of psy-trance producers to hail from the windy city of Cape Town, South Africa. Having grown up listening to Punk rock, Thrash and Hip hop, Barry’s attention then ventured into the more experimental side of electronic music, where he found his true passion in psy-trance. Combining raw elements of serious groove and aggression, meshed with spine-chilling synthetic atmospheric tones and undertones, demented samples and creative percussion, set him up to make the trade mark name that is Frozen Ghost. Since his first single, released on Afrogalactic Records, late 2004, followed by his debut album “Just One Bite”, the distinct cutting edge sound from Frozen Ghost has morphed, manipulated and marveled dance floors in countries such as Israel, Japan and South Africa. Having collaborated with and number of different producers (such as Hiyarant, Zion Linguist, B55, Lost & Found), and following a number of releases on labels such as MMD Records, Yabai Records, Noize Conspiracy Records and Vision Records, as well as compiling the MMD compilation, appropriately called “Cold Conclusion”, his second album was released on Yabai Records September 2007, and was entitled “Edible Technique”. Since then, he has continued to experiment with all facets of music and sound, developing the ever-evolving signature sound of Frozen Ghost which has captured the inner minds of the listeners at home and on the dance floors worldwide.
So Strange
Frozen Ghost Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Nothing's ever black or white
No things are ever like they seem
We go back and forth from one extreme
Nothing ever goes as planned Sometimes I don't understand
The rich get richer and the poor just die
Politicians always lie, the ones that don't we crucify
Or I could hope for a change
So strange ... (Some things never change)
Sometimes love's misunderstood
Men love men like women should
A broken heart can rule the mind
Passion, it can make you blind
Well I could fantasize, pretend it's all okay
Or I could hope for a change
So strange ... (Some things never change)
Talk and talk that's all we do
You blame me and I blame you
You see what you want to see
But just don't push yourself on me
Well I could critisize or put down all you say
Or I could close my eyes or maybe look away
Or I could fantasize, pretend it's all okay
Or I could hope for a change
So strange ... (Some things never change)
The lyrics of Frozen Ghost's song "So Strange" focus on the complexities of life and human nature. The song highlights the idea that nothing is ever completely right or wrong, and things are not always as they seem. The lines "Nothing's ever black or white" and "No things are ever like they seem" suggest that life can be full of contradictions and uncertainties, and we have to navigate through these complexities.
The song also touches on social and political issues, such as inequality and political corruption. The lines "The rich get richer and the poor just die" and "Politicians always lie, the ones that don't we crucify" show the frustration and helplessness one may feel in the face of these issues. Despite this, the chorus of the song suggests that things never really change, which can be seen as a pessimistic view, but also one that acknowledges the challenges of trying to make real progress.
The theme of the song shifts to love and relationships in the second verse, specifically highlighting the challenges of same-sex relationships and how a broken heart can cloud one's judgment. The line "Men love men like women should" challenges societal norms and stereotypes around love and gender.
Overall, the lyrics of "So Strange" suggest that navigating through life and society can be complex and difficult, and that change may be difficult to achieve, but we must continue to hope and strive for progress.
