Equality is meaningless when the playing field isn't level and some groups are still being oppressed

Equity what we fighting for
We're fighting for true equity and fairness, rather than just equality

Recklessly we been driving directions that's looking cyclical
We've been moving in circles and repeating the same mistakes for generations

The message that it's time to grow
It's time for us to grow and progress as a society

It's time to show us who we are and where we come from
We need to acknowledge and celebrate our roots and heritage

Our lineage is unsung, watch history get undone
Our history and heritage have been silenced and erased, so it's time to reclaim and celebrate them

With truth spilled that they concealed they tried to make us run from
The truth about our history has been hidden and suppressed, and we've been encouraged to ignore it

The truth is that you mirror the God of which we come from
We all reflect the divine and come from a higher power, regardless of our race or background

It's so egregious they stole our leaders we left for dead
Our leaders have been stolen from us and left to die or be forgotten by the system

The children needed they fathers threw em in special ed
The system has failed to properly educate and support children, especially those without fathers

Then gave them ritalin fiddling with they special edge
Instead of helping children with learning differences, the system medicates them and disregards their unique strengths

We don't consider the trauma that's messing with they head
We often overlook the emotional and psychological damage that systemic oppression and discrimination can cause

Hard to believe in the government when u tried to
It's difficult to have faith in a government that has lied and failed so many times before

They made promises the fruit of which has yet gleaned
The government has made promises to our people, but we're still waiting for them to be fulfilled

And never followed thru on Special Order number 15
The government failed to follow through on a key order meant to provide land to black people after the Civil War

Being black is already a disadvantage, but having darker skin only compounds the discrimination and oppression

That black boys an endangered species and that wasn't no haiku
Black boys are at risk and their lives are in danger, and this is not just some poetic metaphor

My skin color define me sometimes more than my words
Unfortunately, society often judges and stereotypes people based on their skin color, rather than their character or words

It's a sad truth that we gotta face
It's difficult and painful, but we need to confront the harsh realities of systemic racism and discrimination

It's all connected we disrespected because we great
Our greatness and potential are threatening to the status quo, which is why we're disrespected and oppressed

I see a plan you might see a conspiracy
Some people see the patterns and plans of systemic oppression, while others dismiss it as a conspiracy theory

Reverse engineer it's apparent they biggest fear is me
When we look at the system from a different angle, it's clear that our potential and greatness are the biggest threats to those in power

They'll probably try to convince you that this is heresy
Those in power will likely try to silence us and discredit our ideas by labeling them as heretical or radical

The truth ain't black and white my finding is that it's clear to see
The truth is complex and multi-faceted, but it's clear that systemic oppression and discrimination is a reality that we need to acknowledge and confront
