After adding former Aliens guitarist and keyboard player Geoffrey Stapleton and Adelaide born guitarist Robert James, "Ganggajang" became their self titled debut album. With sales in excess of 120,000, it spawned the hit singles "Gimme Some Lovin", "House of Cards", "Giver of Life", "The Bigger They Are" and what some regard as the unofficial Australian national anthem - "Sounds of Then (This is Australia)".
A second album, "GANGAGAIN" was completed in 1987 with the band members going on to pursue individual projects.
In 1991, the band reformed (without Kayellen and Marilyn, who had gone on to successful careers in the film industry), and took to the road for one brief tour.
The audience response was so overwhelming it encouraged the band to record the 3rd album "Lingo" which was released in 1994.
Ganggajang continue to perform across Australia and the world and in February 2001 they completed their third tour of Brazil, performing to enormous crowds .
October 2002 saw the release of the long awaited fourth album, "Oceans and Deserts".
Giver of Life

Well it's a pressure situation
Life encountered from day today,
Uneasy feelings of uncertainty.
Back by the bywash, out in the open,
Floating down and around and through
A breath of air, the sound of light
Uplifting moments of emotion
The Giver of Life,
You are the Giver of Life.
For what you give now, for what you get
Well it's an endless spinning circle
There is no reason no right or wrong
Just a chord answering a call
Out on the inroads, back on the backtracks
Floating down and around and through
The cry of fire, the sway of soul
Uplifting moments of emotion
The Giver of Life,
You are the Giver of Life.
For what you count on for what you trust
Well it's a precious situation
Out in the cities, sold in the cellars
On the floor into the heart of clubland
The king of beat under the flashing lights
Uplifting moments of emotion
The Giver of Life,
The Giver of Life,
You are the Giver of Life.
The lyrics of GANGgajang's song "Giver of Life" reflect on the pressures and uncertainties of daily life and the role of a higher power in providing moments of upliftment and emotion. The repeating chorus, "You are the Giver of Life," serves as a reminder and tribute to this force. The first verse speaks to the unease that comes with valuing and caring for things in life, creating a pressure that is encountered daily. The imagery of being "back by the bywash, out in the open" and "floating down and around and through" suggests a feeling of being adrift and unsure. However, the breath of air and the sound of light bring uplifting moments of emotion, reminding us that life is also full of beauty and wonder.
The second verse continues the exploration of life's cycle of giving and receiving, with no clear reason or right or wrong, just a chord answering a call. The imagery of being "out on the inroads, back on the backtracks" suggests a cyclical journey, and the cry of fire and sway of soul continue to inspire moments of upliftment and emotion. The final verse speaks to the preciousness of what we count on and trust in life, and how it can be found in unexpected places, even in the heart of clubland. The king of beat under flashing lights is a nod to the power of music to provide upliftment and emotion.
Overall, "Giver of Life" is a reflection on the uncertainties and pressures of life and the role of a higher power in providing moments of wonder and upliftment. The chorus serves as a reminder and tribute to this force, and the imagery used throughout the song creates a vivid picture of the cyclical journey of life.
