Their song "All Will Be Well" off of the 2005 EP Live at World Cafe rose to moderate prominence when it was used in promos for the NBC show Conviction.
The band released their debut album for Fantasy Records, The Gabe Dixon Band, in August 2008. In its initial days of release, it has received praise from the music press and fellow artists. The band toured the United States from Aug 2008 through Nov 2008 with native New Yorker turned Canadian resident, newcomer Justin Nozuka.
The song Find My Way was the opening track to the film The Proposal (2009) starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
Gabe Dixon is also currently a member of the band Supertramp (as of Fall, 2010).
Gabe's solo album, One Spark, will be released on August 23, 2011. The album is produced by Marshall Altman and will feature a duet with Alison Krauss.
Further The Sky

It feels like another day is bleeding into the night
Lay your head on my chest
While my beating heart pounds out the secret of this life
The higher you reach the further the sky
The more miles you walk the longer the road
The steeper you climb the harder you stand to fall
I wish I could give you the answers in paper and ink
I wish I could stop all the tears 'fore they start falling
But we're feeling our way and we're always beginners
We're all cuts and no scars
The higher you reach the further the sky
The more miles you walk the longer the road
The steeper you climb the harder you stand to fall
The stronger you get the heavier the load
The higher, oh the higher, oh the higher that you reach
The further, oh the further, oh the further the sky
The higher, oh the higher, oh the higher that you reach
The further, oh the further, oh the further the sky, the further the sky
Bigger the dream the rougher the ride
The truer the love deeper the ache
The blinder the faith the tougher the go
The higher you reach the further the sky
The more miles you walk the longer the road
The steeper you climb the harder you stand to fall
The stronger you get the heavier the load
The Gabe Dixon Band's song Further The Sky speaks about the universal human condition of uncertainty and mystery. When we don't know where we're going or why, it can feel like each passing day just bleeds into the next. In these moments, we can turn to the comfort of someone else's beating heart, laying our head on their chest and feeling the secret of life pulsing through their veins. The song acknowledges the paradoxical nature of growth and advancement: the higher we reach, the further away the sky seems; the more we accomplish, the longer and harder the road ahead appears. In this way, the song reminds us that the challenges we face in life are not meant to stop us in our tracks, but rather to push us forward and make us stronger.
The lyrics of Further The Sky are filled with beautiful metaphors and imagery that highlight the complexities of life. The "cuts and no scars" line speaks to the inevitability of pain and struggle, but also to the fact that we are constantly learning and growing through our difficulties. The chorus of the song repeats the refrain "the higher you reach the further the sky", driving home the message that progress and achievement are never linear, but rather a constant push-pull between effort and reward. The final verse of the song speaks to the fact that life's obstacles can be some of the most valuable and transformative experiences – from the rough ride to the deep ache, there is beauty and meaning to be found in even the toughest of times.
