Y'all trippin. You do know that it has 5 stages depending in the phase off the battle right? So its meant to change when your playing the game, hence it sounds kinda wack with the progression in a clip. But when you're playin the game the music matches the fight so it sounds more natural. Sword and Shield were the first games I REALLY got into VGC. Before then, I knew what it was, but never tried to understand. After watching a 2 hour guide and learning from mistakes, I think I could play in a regionals

SWSH was an extremely flawed era, but like XY before it, I feel like it was a stepping stone for future generations. It feels like they've used a lot of what they learned in Galar! I think this generation's impact in the development of Pokemon will be huge.

How many "steps in the right direction" do we need before Game Freak just ends up with the right direction? They've had 25+ years with this franchise and I fear they no longer give a shit what fans want, just what will make them the most money. I'd like to think they did care at one point but Idk it seems like they just straight up ignore fans and feedback these days because they know they will still get sales and they can always make bank on merch as well

Pokemon doesn't seem to listen or care to the fans of the games (especially competitive battling) and I don't know if they ever will, but it does suck to see these minimal positive steps alongside wholesale ripping out of things that worked really well in a past generation in order to replace them with the next new gimmick. This isn't how you refine a game design, it's how you market a product when you believe it needs to be kept new and fresh...which, hello? Have you even talked to your primary demographic?

TLDR; I don't think they learned anything, and I doubt they ever will 🙃

as someone who couldn’t play any pokémon game between white 2 and let’s go pikachu i found sword and legends arceus a perfect re-introduction to the mainline games with all the dynamic characters and exciting battles and new features, even if it’s clearly not the best gen i’ll always have a soft spot for it. thanks for everything gen 8❤❤

By far my favorite Pokémon game, not to say any of the other games weren’t good, but sword and shield really made my heart race and my blood pumping with excitement! Down to all the new Pokémon that were introduced, new and improved graphics and animations, the intense battles, and especially the music and soundtrack. It still gives me goosebumps to listen to the gym leader theme. I can’t wait to see what gamefreak has in store for us. Thank you sword and shield for such an amazing time. You won’t be forgotten. ❤️

Still playing Pokémon Shield even when Gen 9 is released (which I preordered and will play) just for a Shiny Yveltal and having every Pokémon in the Pokédex with every form that they have (which I can get in Sword and Shield). Pokédex is complete, only missing are the remaining Alcremie forms (the sugar items are the problem💀) and the Gigantamax forms😗✌🏻

Sword and Shield, along with X and Y, changed the Pokemon playing experience, XY turning the adventure to full 3d and Sword and Shield turning it full HD. I don't wanna underestimate Sun and Moon and the new Scarlet and Violet, but I feel that theses games are more like an extension from the first named, only changing and adding some less details to adventure. We can't forget that is not the first time that Pokemon creates 2 generations on a same console, but at difference of DS Generation, where Black and White was very different to Diamond and Pearl, 3DS and Switch didn't gave so much differences and quality between 6th and 7th gen and 8th and 9th respectively

Sword and shield were fun and had fun dlc. But after finishing the pokemon league and the dlc, there were not much fun to do. The battle tower in the post game of sword/shield and bdsp was too easy, by using iv bred and ev trained pokemon. I miss the battle frontier, there you had all kind of different battle puzzles, which was more fun. You could do a different challenge in the battle frontier after defeating one frontier brain.

Even though we're heading into gen 9, I'll definitely still play the older games, including SwSH even if it's pretty flawed. We can still play them, and I still enjoy the games quite a lot, exploring the Galar region and making new Pokemon friends, I can only imagine SV will be much better!

Gen 8 didn’t come out at the best time in my life so I initially HATED it as a result.
Nowadays I look back at it all quite fondly, now that I know the series has regained stability (Arceus + S/V looking that dang good).
It gave me my long-awaited urchin Pokemon who returns for Paldea, so I’ll have a piece of Galar with me still!

Some may say Gen 8 isn't the best, I'd say the same if I didn't come back to play this game 6 times. It's a bit underrated, and has its issues, but at the end of the day it's a good game.

People say the Pokémon games should have stayed as 2D games where even if the graphics are bad, the characters and Pokémon look fine, and the games are fun. I do wish for the cel anime graphics like in XY and ORAS would be used in the future since that would allow potential for more content and smoother gameplay.

People say LA was the beta for the open world kind of games, but I think Sword and Shield were the true prototype for the open world vibe, and this is thanks to the Wild Area and the DLC’s, since it gives you full camera control and has an open world vibe to it.
