Back In Time
Games Lyrics

I've been on vacation, living in the sun
I'm all alone at night when the vampires come
Car seat is burning, heading to the gym
I try to love this place but I feel nothing
'Cause my home is at the quick stop off route 35
I miss the diners, I miss the bars
I miss the shithole dives, and the passing cars
I miss the hotels, I miss the smell
Tell that corvette dealer he can go to hell
'Cause my home is in the back of an Econoline tonight

I'm getting back in the van
I'm heading out on the highway
I'm getting back in the van
And it feels just like the old days, old days
I guess that I'm looking for something you won't understand
So I'm getting back in the van

I don't need no address, don't need no phone
Don't need my name on a guest list where I wanna go
From city to city, from town to town
I got my feet on the dashboard and the windows down
And my home is in between the white and yellow lines tonight

I'm getting back in the van
I'm heading out on the highway
I'm getting back in the van
And it feels just like the old days, old days
I guess that I'm looking for something you won't understand
So I'm getting back in the van

I'm getting back in the van
I'm heading out on the highway
I'm getting back in the van
And it feels just like the old days, old days

And I guess that I'm looking for something you won't understand
Back in the van

Overall Meaning

The song "Back in Time" by The Game is a nostalgic road trip through memory lane as the singer reminisces about life on the road. The opening lines talk about how he has been on vacation, living in the sun, but when the night falls, he's all alone, and the vampires come out to play. The reference to vampires could be symbolic of people he doesn't want to be around, or memories he wants to forget. He is heading to the gym, but he doesn't feel anything, despite trying to love this place. He misses his old life, his home at the quick stop off route 35, the diners, bars, shithole dives, passing cars, hotels, and their smell. He doesn't care about the corvette dealer who can go to hell because his home is in the back of an Econoline tonight.

The chorus of "Getting back in the van," is the singer's way of telling us that he is returning to his old ways, and it feels just like the old days. He doesn't need an address or phone number, no guest list or knowing anyone in the city he is heading to because he has his feet on the dashboard and windows down. His home is in between the white and yellow lines tonight.

The Game is expressing how he wants to hit the reset button and go back in time to a simpler life where he didn't care about fame, money, or success. He wants to get back to the place he feels most comfortable; life on the road. He wants to escape from the mundane and the pressures of success and remember the old days, which were easier and carefree. The song is a reminder that sometimes, we need to take a step back and get in touch with our roots and what makes us happy, even if others don't understand.

Hi guys. I definitely like the video. I have a suggestion. You guys were having trouble focusing the camera on the cards when you held them up. Usually if you put your other hand close behind the card or hold the card in the palm of your hand the camera will auto focus on it.
I’ve seen it done on tons of other videos. I hope this helps.:)

Not a big deal but I’m pretty sure the white cube goes on the love meter track and the orange one goes on the turn track. Sorry. It’s my OCD’s fault. Lol
