1. Gary Clark, born 10 March 1962, is a singer, musician, songwriter and producer. He first came to prominence as lead singer and guitarist of the band Danny Wilson. He formed the band in Dundee, Scotland in 1986 with his brother Kit on keyboards and friend Ged Grimes on bass. They produced smooth, intelligent, Steely Dan-influenced pop similar in style to contemporaries such as Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout. Danny Wilson disbanded in February 1990 after two albums and the hit single Mary's Prayer.
He has since worked as a solo artist, band member, and songwriter and producer for other artists.
He recorded a soul-tinged solo album, Ten Short Songs about Love, in April 1993. Clark then teamed up with Eric Pressly, Neill MacColl and Matt Lang to form the band King L. They released the Neil Young-influenced album, Great Day for Gravity, in 1995.
Clark's next project was the band Transister, a three-piece with Pressly and vocalist Keeley Hawkes. They produced a self-titled album in 1997.
Clark now lives and works mainly in London with wife and manager Alison. He almost exclusively writes and/or produces for other people. He has worked with Natalie Imbruglia (he co-wrote and produced almost all of her album White Lilies Island). He has also collaborated with Liz Phair, Skin, Melanie C, The Bible, Lloyd Cole, David McAlmont, Julia Fordham, Alex Parks and Eddi Reader.
His songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as k.d lang, Rachel Stevens and Emma Bunton. Clark compositions also regularly turn up on movie soundtracks including There's Something About Mary, Nightwatch, Batman Forever, Charlie's Angels, Wild Things, Mr Deeds, Jawbreaker, The Sweetest Thing, Hope Springs and Sing Street.
2. Gary Clark is an American easy-listening pianist.

Lying on the floor
Just outside of Marcy's - West 54 wow
You gonna know my name by the end of the night, yeah
You gonna know my name by the end of the night, well
Bright lights, big city going to my head
Bright lights, big city going to my head
I don't care no, no
Cause you don't care, no
Start up with the bottle
End it up with the bottle
Taking shots, waitingon tomorrow
Trying to fill up, whats hollow
You gonna know my name
You gonna know my name
Bright lights, big city going to my head
Bright lights, big city going to my head
Bright lights, big city going to my head
I don't care no
'Cause you don't care, no
Get lost in this city trying to find myself
I went up a different person
Came down somebody else
I know it ain't right
But its song in my head
Wow I'm surprised that
I'm still alive I should breathe in
Bright lights, big city going to my head
Bright lights, big city going to my head
Bright lights, big city going to my head
I don't care no, no
Cause you don't care
Well you gonna know my name
Well you gonna know my name
Well you gonna know my name
Hey! You gonna know my name by the end of the night, well
The song “Bright Lights” by Gary Clark Jr. talks about the excitement and restlessness of being in New York City. The opening lines, “Wake up in New York City / Lying on the floor / Just outside of Marcy's - West 54 wow,” paints a picture of someone who has partied all night, possibly in the company of some unsavory characters. Despite the chaos, the singer is determined to make a name for themselves, as evidenced by the repeated refrain, “You gonna know my name by the end of the night, yeah / You gonna know my name by the end of the night, well.”
The song’s chorus, “Bright lights, big city going to my head / I don't care no, no / 'Cause you don't care, no,” speaks to the intoxicating nature of the city and the way it can make people feel invincible. The second verse delves deeper into this feeling, as the singer turns to alcohol to fill a void inside them. The line “Get lost in this city trying to find myself / I went up a different person / Came down somebody else” suggests that the city has changed them in some way, leading to a crisis of identity. Overall, “Bright Lights” captures the mix of excitement and disillusionment that often comes with life in the city that never sleeps.
