He provided his talents as both lead singer and guitarist in the band Institute until their recent dissolution. Rossdale is currently working on a full-length solo project.

In further work, he has established himself as an actor, with appearances in films such as: Zoolander, Constantine, The Game of Their Lives, and How to Rob a Bank. Additionally, he guest-starred in the American television series Criminal Minds. The episode, entitled "The Performer," originally aired on November 11, 2009, in which he played a Gothic rock star.

He is also married to Gwen Stefani of No Doubt. In 2006, they became parents to a son named Kingston. Also, in 2004 Rossdale discovered through testing that he is the father of a daughter [Daisy Lowe], from a past fling with fashion designer Pearl Lowe.
