Oh, oh, oh, oh oh gee
My, oh, gee
Well, oh oh, gee
Why I love that girl
Oh, oh, oh, oh oh please
Listen to me
Hear my plea
Why I love that girl
Hold me, baby, squeeze me
Never let me go
I'm not taking chances
Because I love her, I love her so
Oh, oh, oh, oh oh gee
Yes I love her
Yes I need her
Why, I love that girl
[Bridge]
(Hold me, baby, squeeze me,)
(Never let me go,)
(I'm not taking chances)
('Cause I love her, I love her so)
My, oh, gee
Well, oh, gee
My, oh, gee
Why I love that girl
Oh, oh, oh, oh oh please
Listen to me
Hear my plea
Why I love that girl
Why I love that girl

In 1954, I was just 13 years old; a working class kid growing up in a suburban New Jersey town. Like most kids my age, I listened to pop music on the radio, but one night I was turning the tuning dial on my radio and I happened to land on a small radio station coming out of Newark that played music unlike anything I’d heard before. Rhythm and Blues !!! I was hooked!! “Gee” by the Crows was one of the first that changed my life forever more.

In that same year another kid heard this song on the radio and was enchanted by it. His name was Paul Simon. 🙂
