Like Someone in Love
Gene McDaniels Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lately, I find myself out gazing at stars
Hearing guitars like someone in love
Sometimes the things I do astound me
Mostly whenever you're around me
Lately I seem to walk as though I had wings
Bump into things like someone in love
Each time I look at you
I'm limp as a glove
And feeling like someone in love
Lately I seem to walk as though I have wings
Bump into things like someone in love

Each time I look at you I'm limp as a glove
And feeling like someone in love

Overall Meaning

Gene McDaniels's song Like Someone In Love speaks about how being in love can cause a person to feel and act in unusual ways. The lyrics discuss astounded feelings, walking with wings, bumping into things, and fingers feeling limp like a glove. All of these things happen to the singer, and they are all thanks to the presence of the person they love.

The song seems to be about the feeling of being in love, rather than a particular person. The singer captures the ethereal quality of that love by using images like gazing at stars, hearing guitars, and bumping into things. The use of sensory language emphasizes the feeling of love and the way it can make an individual act and feel.

Overall, Like Someone In Love is a song about the euphoric, transcendental feeling of being in love. It acknowledges the way love can make the world around an individual seem magical and surprising. This interpretation is pretty common when one considers the song's theme of infatuation.

If any one can get a hold of Gene's jazz album. I think it's title was Route 66, your ears will be greatly rewarded! Please post it or comment. It contains I believe in you( best version by anyone!), Straight no chaser! I used to have the vinyl. My favorite album/songs by Gene and by any male jazz vocalists which is saying a lot!

The description lists songwriters from Bad Company which is for a different song by the same name. The songwriting credit should be to Gene McDaniels
