See You In Your Dreams
Gene Simmons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The party's over, and baby's in the corner
She's all alone for the night
You pick up the phone, you want to go home
Well dry your eyes, it's alright, it's alright
See you, feel you in your dreams tonight
See you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight

When you're in the room, you're home too soon
You can't get me out of your mind
And you get in bed, you cover your head
My letter to you is signed
And this is what I'm sayin'

See you, feel you in your dreams tonight
See you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight

See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight

See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight
See you, see you, feel you in your dreams tonight, dreams tonight

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of “See You In Your Dreams” talk about the feeling of missing someone and wanting to be with them even when they are not around. The song is written from the perspective of someone who is longing to be with someone who they know is alone at home. They pick up the phone and reach out to them to let them know that it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to feel lonely, and that they will be there for them. The person sings, “See you, feel you in your dreams tonight,” expressing that they want to be with the other person even in their dreams. The repetition of “See you, feel you in your dreams tonight” emphasizes the idea of wanting to be with the other person in any way possible, even if it is just a dream.

The second verse of the song continues with the idea of missing someone and not being able to get them out of your mind. The person is so consumed by thoughts of the other person that they even show up in their dreams when they are alone in bed. It is clear that the writer of the song is deeply in love with the person they are writing about.

Overall, “See You In Your Dreams” is a song about the longing, desire, and love we have for someone who is not physically with us. It’s about wanting to be with someone even if it’s only in our dreams.

This album RULES.....Paul, ACE and Gene's albums are all amazing.

Alex Burns

Coach Chas I've always had a soft spot for Peter's.. it might be better when you realize it's what Pete wanted to do.. that's when I started enjoying it more.

Anna Weberová

I think all of the solo albums are great. Peter's too.

David Bonnar

why not peter :<

William Malloy

Ace's album is far superior to the others. Gene's is really good. Paul's is terrible and Pete's is awful. KISS ARMY for over 40 years. That's just how it is.

JayDogTitan 1464

@William Malloy I agree completely, Aces album was a true rock album, By far the best and the only solo that went platinum.

this version is better than the KISS version !!

Monty

Yeah um not even close. Actual real Kiss fans would disagree with you 1000% kid.

@Monty Not your kid pal and there's just as many who would disagree with you 1000%.

Jacob Metz

Guys, for Gene, this was not about improving the Kiss version. He described it as more of a 'fine tuning'. While that does not make one version better than the other, it does give Gene's personal seal on this version. So, just enjoy then go back and give the original another listen and enjoy that one too. Rock on!
