Official Bio
A native Bermudian, Geneman, was blessed to be surrounded by music all his life. Born to a family of extremely talented musicians, and singers, he discovered his love and aptitude for music, at a very young age.
The anointed reggae singer, man of many voices, was raised in the music arena singing in gospel choirs, and groups. However, it was only after becoming acquainted with God, his desire to explore the boundaries of his talent took root.
He made his first recording debut, with a contemporary Christian Group, called Destiny. His God given skills and talents gave him the opportunity to sing, write, and arrange on the project.
As a lyricist, producer and arranger, his appreciation for many styles of music is apparent, specifically reggae, his first love. Greatly influenced by the creativity and unique styles of Bob Marley, (the king of reggae) and Beres Hammond, his musical interpretation took form.
In 1998, Geneman released his first gospel reggae album, "Righteous in Christ", an extraordinary rendition of tracks that will make you dance, soothe your spirit and heal your soul. After "Righteous in Christ," Geneman released his sophomore effort, "The Light".
Geneman's professional career has given him the opportunity to record with well-known Christian reggae group "Christafari". On their 1999 release titled, "Word, Sound and PowerΓ’β¬Ε‘" Geneman performed a duet with Mark Mohr for the award nominated, "Emancipation Proclamation."
His quest to touch people's lives is demonstrated by his humility, song and ministry performance. Geneman believes that the vehicle of gospel reggae will reach untapped populations within the world and cause change in the hearts of man to the glory of Jesus Christ.
Exclusive Interview with GospelReggae.com
GR: Tell us about yourself, where were you born and grow up, what your family is like, etc...
Geneman: I was born and grew up in the island of Bermuda. I am the youngest of five children. I have three brothers and one sister. My father was a pastor and a true man of God -- he has since passed away. My mother is the best mother in the world, she and my father raised us to love Christ and honor God in our lives. Each one of my siblings sing and play instruments. All four of us brothers are songwriters.
GR: How did you begin doing music?
Geneman: I was born into music. It came from both my father and mother. My father played saxophone and my mother plays piano. From a young man I played drums in my family band and later on in life I began writing songs and singing.
GR: Tell me, how did your name come about? Any obstacles with it--funny mispronunciations, etc...?
Geneman: I wanted a name that said who I am as a born again believer -- A new man in Christ. Geneman comes from the first book of the Bible "Genesis"; "in the Beginning". Geneman means a man of new beginnings in Christ.
GR: If you could share the stage with any Christian or secular artist in the world (living or dead) who would it be?
Geneman: I would love to share the stage with Cece Winans and I would have loved to share the stage with Bob Marley.
GR: I know that you have written a whole heap of songs in the past, but what's your favorite one?
Geneman: It would be "Heart of a Servant".
GR: What were the last 5 CDs that you put in your disc changer?
Geneman: Bob Marley - "Kaya", Bob Marley - "Legend", Cece Winan - "Throne Room", Geneman - "The Light", Various Artist - "Drop Leaf".
GR: Read any good books lately?
Geneman: "Classic Christianity" by Bob George and "Eternal Security" by Charles Stanley.
GR: What goes through your mind before you go onstage at the average show?
Geneman: I always wonder how the Holy Spirit is going to work through me to bless the people, and when my nerves are going to settle down.
GR: Do you prefer being in the studio or on the road??
Geneman: I prefer to be in the studio, that's my comfort zone.
GR: If you could whisper in the ears of youths aspiring to start a music ministry like yours, what would you say?
Geneman: Make sure you allow Christ's true love to keep your motives right, so that what you do with your gift does not end up being just for self gratification, but that you strive to be a blessing to someone else.
GR: Why do you do music? What is your primary goal?
Geneman: I do music because that's what's in me to do. It's a gift from Christ, so I increase it, for that's what He said to do with it. That people receive Him through the music and grow to love Him as He loves us. That's my purpose.
GR: Are you working on any future projects/releases that we should look out for?
Geneman: I'm working on new music as we speak. I don't know when I'll be releasing it though. Hopefully in the near future...
