Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Genesis by Genesis have a repetitive nature, but still manage to portray a sense of self-confidence and intimidating energy. The opening lines "Pull up like a monk, Devil's in the trunk Why you here if your shit don't bump Their shit never run" paint a picture of a confrontational individual who is unimpressed by the music and presence of others. The line "All my tracks like Forrest Gump" is a clever metaphor for the artist's music being consistently good, just like Forrest Gump's running.

The chorus consists of simple questions, "Will you stay by baby, Will you say bye bye" which seem to be directed towards a lover or a close acquaintance. The verse following the chorus repeats the same lines as the opening verse, highlighting the artist's self-assured nature. The lyric "If you tryna get nasty I'm Rick James, got boots on your backseat" is another simile used to convey a sense of power and confidence, comparing himself to the provocative musician Rick James.

The repetitive nature of the song indicates its focus on an unchanging and powerful persona, while the simple chorus adds to its catchiness. Overall, Genesis by Genesis is a song that contains a strong aura of power, self-assurance, and confidence, with the chorus's focus on relationships acting as a centerpiece.

Our choir sung this song in the late 70's! Great job choir.

@MrCrossIsBoss

Unbelievable. The directing; the presentation; the atmosphere; the choral and musical arrangements and even the stage props were done with excellence. This rendition of a gospel classic is full of surprises. I bet those kids slept really well that night after the concert! They were laser-focused! Kudos to the director, producer, and all involved. I favorited this video.

I first heard his song performed by the New Orleans Gospel Soul Children's Choir (Thomas Whitfield-Director), at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida in 1979. It has remained one of my favorite choral arrangements since then. The Voices of Unity performed it equally as well, in this featured video. Both choirs are/were blessed to have such amazingly gifted youth and some equally amazing musicians and adult direction. Praise be to God. The glory is indeed His. For me, this was a blessing that keeps on blessing.

You have to share the history!

When I watch this video and listen to the voices of these beautiful young spirits, I'm so blessed to be given the opportunity to develop, train, inspire, empower and encourage their lives for greatness. Β Voices of Unity students you have been given a special gift and I hope none of you every forget how special that gift really is no matter how old you become. Β Always be thankful, grateful and acknowledge God for that gift. Β Your Life Coach and Director, Mr. White Β I love You All.

@troythomas9573

I call this my fight song.

I listen to so many voices become one voice, with strength and power of praise.
After a while, that which was aggravating me is no more. I am then left with the time I accepted Christ for myself at an RAYC conference more than twenty years ago.

No geo-political media influence, just me praising and thank my GOD.
Thank you choir.
